I don't really get much wax after the mini a/b...

Do you do heated pulls in the mini A/B? I'm thinking I get more wax because I always do heated pulls. I do love the waxy goodness

Just warm NPS, room / lye temp A/B.

I notice a lot of you guys still freeze precipe , the beautiful thing about the mini ab is that you can just Evap in front of a slow breeze or a very slow fan over the corse of a couple of hours , the results will speak for them selves truelly and for people that are in oz or other parts that you can buy shellite or naps cheap ( $24 for 4ltrs ) you won't mind evading 300-400ml but this is just my opinion ....

I tried that, and got goo only. No crystals.

Seems legit and to work for others as well as "Pathfinder's Amazing Xtals" :d The DMT Handbook available here on the Nexus, author @Viracocha I think? chatted about this in his awesome xtal growing section. I quote:

The DMT is recovered here by means of slow evaporation rather than freeze precipitation.
The slower the evaporation, the larger the crystals will be. Furthermore, if recrystallised DMT is used to grow crystals with, you will also find that larger crystals will form. This is because there are fewer impurities present to interfere with the crystal formation process.

I found the whole book a hell of a good read. Some interesting stuff on making some long life DMT (bumping it back to salt form). I don't have the problem of surplus DMT so much that I need to keep it in cold storage just yet, but a nice problem to have for some I guess!

I've also tried that and got some nice amber waxy goo, but no crystals. And naphtha isn't cheap or readily available here, so...

I only ever get too as well when vaping it all. I imagine if you transfered the containers at the right point during vapinv you could go ahead and seperate them. And vap the rest cleanly. I've never tried. Have gotten waxy crystals though.

ew's tek has almost always provided me with xtals from freeze precip-

I'm gonna try the evaporation route next time I do a run, those shards look sexy

I used 200g ACRB this was from 3 pulls and they weighed 2.9g 1.45% not bad at all , and my god are they pure wow , what a trip 8)

If you get goo from ACRB don't stress--turn it into changa! IMHO and IME changa is the way to go when it comes to smoalked DMT and it doesn't matter if you get Xtals or goo from your extraction because both will dissolve readily in acetone/isopropanpol and can be evapped on your smoalking blend of choice.

oversoul1919, MHRB would give you pretty white spice from a simple STB (i.e. mix lye, bark and water in pickle jar, do a few nps pulls and freeze precip to perfection). Recrystallization, mini-A/B's and NMT/DMT separation don't really matter when MHRB is being used.

It certainly can. I much prefer doing a mini A/B step rather than going through a recrystalization. I find I get better final yields and VERY clean crystals with just a mini A/B. Mimosa does usually yield pretty clean crystals without the need for a cleanup step, but if you want to go the extra mile....

I have noticed no real difference speaking in terms of relatively pure crystals extracted from both sources. The full spectrum goo is another story entirely. :thumb_up:

I attempted this tek with a few differences that was due to time constraints. But what happened was I left the basic soup for a few days and then attempted to pull using hot shellite while the base soup was cool/room temp. I ended doing 6x50mL pulls like the tek asks. I found that the pulls came out very clear, no noticeable yellow tinge and had a slight cloudiness to it. I was thinking to just evap that and then freeeze precip it but I ended up doing the mini-ab just because it's my first time doing this tek. What happened was I had 300mL dmt enriched nps and the vessel that I was going to attempt to do the mini-ab with had only 750mL volume. So I ended up using 350mL of 2.6pH water and shook it periodically for 15-25 minutes. After that I performed another 5x50mL hot shellite pulls.

I didn't discard the leftover 300mL, since I thought that there might be some DMT left that had not gone through into the acidic solution whilst performing the mini-ab.

Well after 12-14 hrs of freeze precip, my assumption was right. There were dmt crystals on the bottom and side of a jam jar.

What I learned from this observation was that as long as the base pulls were done using room temp soup and hot shellite, it would collect mostly DMT particles, instead of fats etc. IMO that's alot better than doing hot soup pulls and then having to waste another 1-2 hours doing a mini-ab.

I have two questions, how much acidic water can absorb a certain amount of dmt which is dissolved inside a NPS? It seems like 350mL wasn't enough, or that I might of not given it enough time to transfer from a freebase to a salt form.

I also used a stirring rod to mix the NPS in while doing the initial base pulls. From what I've seen so far, the yield looks pretty low, I will know for sure once I get my second batch into the freezer. But man o' man, are the xtals white

I often shake and separate more than a dozen times over a 24 hour period to ensure that the DMT has all migrated over to the acidic solution and converted to acetate. Now that might be overkill on my part, but when you said 15 - 25 minutes I thought I'd chime in to say that perhaps that isn't long enough

It's more effective to pull few time with small volumes than one time with a big volume (pull with water for DMT in salt form or with NPS when in base form).
Instead of one pull with 350ml aciditic water, i'd pull 3 time with 150ml then 100 ml and finaly 100mL.

Just witnessed the efficacy and ease of this back salting step, I'd always been a little apprehensive about losing yields this way, but it's the most effective defat for ACRB I've seen.

Went from yellow oil to crystal clear. Nice.


EDIT: tried to get some pics, but it's incredibly camera shy. The tray that had the naps being half evapped became fully evapped due to it's watcher falling asleep while it was in front of a fan. Was put in the freeze anyway,I honestly wasnt there, but was told that at that point the tray held a layer of what looks to be clear goo. After eighteen hours in freeze tho, there were plenty of little round xtals that scraped up and held form, on a crystal clear go matrix.:thumb_up:

This is my first real success with xtals. Cool. Oh and they were from a tiny bit of acidified solution, less than 200 ml that was left over, not having room in the pulling vessels, that was based and pull pulled from. This is the bark that keeps on giving. Try to get some pics...

EDIT II: aww, they finally stopped being shy and let thier pic be taken. Its neat watching these grow, what appeared as goo yesterday is now becoming the little round snowflakes. This is novel and fascinating to me, pardon me...
