This is the most important thing. Once you give up, it's over.
Nicotine is a horrible addiction - not just the long term effects, but yes, the meat hooks. This is war man! War consists of battles. Some battles are won. Some battles are lost. Some battles are a tie and everyone goes home and talks BS.
Given how very hard nicotine is to quit I really thing this thread is relevant even though it overtly focuses on opiates Quitting opiates/addictive substances - Tips, strategies, complementary tools - Health & Safety - Welcome to the DMT-Nexus
Don't be too hard on yourself, keep trying, yes, do try other methods to ease off - the idea of patch or gum might be better than e-cig - at least get rid of that silly habit that you know your hand and mouth love.
There's two components to the addiction and both are big with nicotine. Physical - it takes awhile to fully detox. Psychological - this is the real series of long term battles.
Yes, from those I've spoken to who have quit long term it does get much much easier with time.
I would recommend meditation, as well as actively working on integrating the powerful trip that started this.
You CAN do this. One of your enemies is big tobacco. Don't let them continue to have you as their long term prisoner.
Wishing you the best and knowing you can do this.
That really sucks.
