Hi there,

I've been working with heat-and-acid extracted MHRB for some time, but I've recently begun cold-brewing it. Not to attempt an MAOI-free experience; simply to use it with Rue.

I've found the cold-brewed experience to be...I suppose 'warmer' would be a good description. It feel more organic, less harsh and jarring, and the come-up is *infinitely* smoother. Without using words like 'meant to', I can't help feeling that the cold-brewed method gives a more complete and user-friendly experience.

Has anyone else worked with this combination? If so, what was your experience?

Just for the improved flavor and GI tolerability, I really like CWE's. I think more usefulness is pulled with the heat and acidic washes, but it's so easy to drink a cold water extract...

If I am doing an aya journey, I parachute the freebase rue and wait about 15 min. Then I chute some more rue with the CWE. Then I use some nasal pharma. Then I vaporize whenever I can use my hands without them turning into crab claws.😉

maxzar,

Basically, I'm adding powdered Mimosa and water in a container- a twenty ounce bottle, in this case- shaking vigorously, then leaving it in the refrigerator for several days, shaking occasionally. Then I pour off the translucent, garnet-colored liquid and discard the sludge at the bottom. From there, I'll use the egg white tek to remove the tannins, then reduce the liquid to a drinkable amount. Take the powdered Rue fifteen minutes before, then drink the Mimosa. I usually use between 6 and 8 grams of Mimosa per dose, depending on how strong I'd like it to be.

ive done CWE on MHRB in the past, but found it to be weak compared to heat prepared brews, about 50% potency. nothing wrong with that if you save the solids for a later brew. Much better taste, less nausea, but i cant say the experience was noticeably different. These days i do a CWE with a bit of red wine vinegar for a week, then decant. I then do a typical heat extraction on the solids left behind, and reduce the heat prepared brew down. Once its to a small amount of a liquid, i evaporate the brew to a powder on a glass dish, and add the powder to the CWE liquid. Stick it all in the fridge overnight, filter, and you have a 100% potency brew with all the CWE goodies, very little nausea, no horrid taste, etc...

Hmm. Now *that's* an idea I never considered. Thanks, evil804, I'm going to have to try that.

I'm thinking of making a CWE of some Mimosa to mix with Ayahuasca vine brew. I'm planning on next week, if I make a CWE now that should be enough time say? Not really sure what to expect but the time is upon me.

Wow, what a great idea. I have been toying with the same idea, but this has motivated me to finally try it. Also, I have been thinking of sublimating some CWE in the freezer to get near the same thing done, but hopefully keep the heat unstable elements intact.

Kind of like a poor man's freeze drying, really. Especially since the gear for that is prohibitively expensive. This article gave me the initial idea many moons ago http://www.maps.org/ayahuasca/ayaspain00.html
