describing DMT to a layman

i've always tried to think of concise descriptions of the DMT experience in order to convey it to someone who hasn't partaken. what's your best possible way of doing this? i saw someone call it 'a crash course in alien language' today, which felt pretty to-the-point to me.

I have described it as "the drug equivalent of being pushed out of a plane" and "having all the knowledge in the entire universe for a few brief moments" to those who haven't used it before.

Ive used phrases like:

I cannot explain in mere words.

Its like a caveman in a computer lab.

But i think for someone who has never dosed, there is just no possible way to divulge the secrets of hyperspace in mortal language.

I gave up trying to explain the ineffable long ago. Wanna know what DMT is like? Smoalk it.

But what if they are just curious and not ready to smoalk yet you ask? Read Strassman's book and quality experience reports on the Nexus to get an extremely general idea of what someone *may* experience.

The thing about DMT is that it is not even really a predictable experience. I read hundreds of trip reports during the years before I came across DMT and none of it prepared me for my first real breakthrough. Not only did reading not prepare me, I had hundreds of trips from other various psychedelics under my belt prior to DMT and none of them prepared me either.

Sub-breakthrough doses may be comparable to mushrooms or other tryptamines, however I don't think the the full-blown DMT experience isn't comparable to anything else, nothing I've ever come across at least.

It is probably a better idea to refer them to the Nexus *prior* to dosing them with DMT, jmho.

This is pretty accurate. I've also had someone describe Salvia to me as "realizing you're in the Matrix," but I've never tried that, so I can't say how accurate that is.

I just say its a "rocket ship ride! Lift off is pretty hectic, but when your out in space, it is pretty peaceful." But coming back is pretty smooth, the details of being out in space is something you yourself need to find. "I cant tell you what you will see!"

There really is no explaining this. Only experiencing it. Terence said it quite eloquently,
"You don't change. What happens is the world is completely... replaced! Instantly, 100% it's all gone. Ive linked a few people particularly well written articles or even shown some The Spirit Molecule documentary, while its not a perfect, it really is a great introduction to the uninformed because of all of the accounts of people from all walks of life. It's all very captivating.

This is a great short too because the visuals are great and the background dialogue by Terence is very straight forward and easy for someone new to understand.

Even the How Stuff Works website has a channel on youtube and a series called "Stuff They Dont Want You to Know" and they featured DMT. IMO, it's the best and most focused introduction for someone on the topic because it is 4 minutes, right to the point, and puts out a lot of very intriguing unbiased information.
