DMT as a treatment for bad trips.

Migrated topic.

I've commonly read in the literature that an "anxiolytic" is often the best treatment for a "bad trip", such as on acid or shrooms. (however this is usually valium)

I've also read studies describing endogenous DMT as an endogenous anxiolytic.

I've asked a few people and they've suggested that DMT is amazing combination with shrooms and LSD. My question is that has anyone ever had success getting out of that bad space with a DMT trip?

Has anyone ever "fixed" or helped a bad trip with DMT?

DMT can make it MUCH WORSE, or even do the opposite. It's a real wildcard.

I think something like Kava is good for a bad trip, especially if its LSD. Passionflower can also help. It's MAOI effects are not strong enough to make the LSD any stronger, but it will make the trip more relaxed and more dreamy, easing tension, relaxing the mind.

For SWIM, an LSD bad trip is normally caused by a bad thought pattern getting stuck in the head. LSD can make your train of thought get stuck in a loop. If that thought is bad or scary, it can lead to the classic "bad trip". Usually visuals, and other effects will start taking on the character of that thought loop. Passionflower will help break the thought loop by relaxing the mind. Kava will do the same.

Probably Kava is safer for this purpose.

yesterday in the hospital SWIM was given Ativan or Lorazapam, which if I am not mistaked are Benzodiazapines (Benzos) commonly perscribed for anxiety. They are a Chill pill in every sense of the meaning. The stuff worked well. The Dr just wasnt willing to give me as much as I needed to come down quicker. If a person had a few milligrams at home, in case of? They would surely do the trick.

SWIM has been through some rough bad trips from mushrooms and his last thing he wanted was to smoke some spice.

But it is possible that sub-breakthrough spice doses may actually help - it is not going to be too overwhelming and it can (for some time) shift the focus of the user and redirect him to a more blissful experience.

Actually SWIM's going to have a small dose handy next time on mushrooms just in case some bad trip knocks the door.

Spice got me out of a "bad trip" once. It wasnt really bad, but I was getting some worries because I was so confused, distorted and barefooted in the woods in the middle of the night far from home while on the acid. Smoking spice from a joint made me propel right into the holy grail for a little moment, and this got me back in my shoes for the rest of the acid trip.

benzos have saved my trips a few times (none with MAO), actually I love just having some around because it reduces pre-trip anxiety and causes the trip to be more relaxed and less fearful... BUT I have read that benzos are bad with MAO's and I can imagine why... so whats the story? is it just certain benzo's or wha?

I will say this, if the trip is going really south, and the dmt effect is a gamble, it's probably worth rolling the dice... if it's certain to amplify it then don't. SWIM has done dm on cid and the 2 effects were separate which I was surprised by but I don't know if I would classify it as a distraction.
