Very interesting, they might get metabolized differently, but just something to consider...

i recently read on the shroomery about a real disease that is caused by inhaling mushroom
spores. The mushrooms colonize the lungs and sometimes even fruit! This is most common in
people who are very sick and have weakened immune systems. Sorry i can't recall it's name.

Huh. IDK, i think McKenna says stuff off the top of his head in occasion. Love the guy's ideas, he's absolutey brilliant, but I've heard him say a couple head scratchers.

Hey, thanks for that archive link. Never thought of looking for that there. Cool.

I recall Jamie mentioning there are some monks in the Himalayas that are reported to use psilocybin snuffs and I believe he's successfully experimented with mushroom snuffs before. In then end anything you can snuff, you can take sublingually for the same effect, it's all soft tissue absorption.

I'll have a mushy harvest soon I'll volunteer to try it =]

You'd probably have to snort quite alot of dried mushroom powder to get a decent effect.
Probably better to first extract psilocin and psilocybin from mushrooms and get them in a
fine, snortable powder and then snort that.

I believe such an extract can be made fairly easily by using a mix of ethanol and water as a solvent.
You could then further refine the extract by washing away proteins, fats and whatever else that isn't
psilocin or psilocybin. Perhaps for snorting it is better to get it into freebase form I don't know.

Snorting dried mushrooms would likely be really hard on your respiratory system, you definitely want to work with an extract if you are considering attempting this. Being a zwitterion, it's not so simple to extract purified salt or freebase of psilocin/psilocybin. A crude extract infused into some material that is gentle on the sinuses would be your best bet.

Again though, you can get exactly the same effect by just taking it sublingually and spare your sinus cavity entirely, so the only reason to snuff it is really for the novelty factor (and I suppose to indulge your inner masochist a little bit).
