A friend o mine isn´t sure about how long to dry the spice.
She wants to be sure that no solvent traces are left on one side.
At the other side she wants to be sure that the spice doesn´t converts.

So what would be the maximum time to dry it without converting???

Peace!!!

You mean converting into dmt n-oxide? As mlong as you are not using any heat, i would say...months, years? At least until serious degradation occurs.
Make sure it smells like DMT and not naphta, and that it is totally dry.

Yes, that´s the big question. Since she has been operated, at her nose at the age of 3, she isn´t able to smell well.
So she isn´t sure if it smells like naphtha or not. She wants to be sure every solvent evapped and wants to be sure it didn´t converted to dmt-n-oxide.

She can spread it out on a plate and mash it a little from time to time ....in my experience, it does not take very long, but a couple of days should be sufficient if she wants to play it safe.

ok, thank you!!!

She thought 6-8 hours would be enough. But at her first batch the smoke was suspicious harsh and she didn´t felt really safe to smoke it, so the first journeys had a touch of insecurity. Not really relaxed!

6 to 8 hours is not enough to be sure . Use a fan in an open
Pyrex pan . Sometimes depending on humidity it can take a couple
Of days . It's well worth the wait to be sure . Solvent in your spice
Is a big drag ...

Redissolving in acetone is good way to make sure no naphtha traces are left. Otherwise, chop the crystals finely and wait for 24 hours, should be fine.

Thank y´all for response!!!
That helped much.
She will dry it for another 24 hours and feels a lot more safe than before!

You can spread it out onto a sheet of cardstock paper and let the paper absorb the Naphtha. I had to do this because it was taking forever for my spice to dry. You can put a piece of thin cloth over your pyrex tray and seal it with a rubber band wrapped around it. Then have a high powered fan blowing on it with the window open.

If one has access to a vacuum flask and a pump, I've vac purged hash oil using this method making a seal with the top of the flask and a metal tin holding the oil. You just have to hold it upside down so the oil does not drip out of the container. It worked very well to purge the acetone out of the oil, and i can only assume it would work equally well for naptha in spice. One of those home food vac systems could work as well, imo it would be easier with a food vac as the containers usually have a wide mouth which would make it easy to just put your spice in a vial, then put that vial in the vac container.

I needs to be vaporized, not burnt!

Ok, that would have been a fault too. She´s still pretty unexperienced in using spice.

Check out vaporgenie, it's THE tool for spice.

Drying the spice from naphtha is very quick, especially under a fan, just put the fan to blow on the open tray(no it won't make the crystals fly). The above tip to spread it out on paper isn't good and you'll risk of losing some of your spice and getting residue from the paper. If one can't wait 12/24 hours for crystals to dry out, then one probably is too anxious to smoke, and that's probably not good. Patience is important

my friend spreads it out on a mirror and put a fan on it lightly. Dries it up very quickly. Periodicly move it around and chop up clumps with a razor.

One way to make sure its really dry (which i think Pandora turned me on to) is to stick it in some sort of sealed container after you THINK its dry..wait a half hour or so..then open the lid and give it a smell

But the crystals can trap inside them some naphtha, that's why one should chop them as fine as possible or redissolve in acetone, I recommend the acetone

Now I have some acetone.

So just dissolve the spice and let the acetone evap?

Make sure it's pure acetone.

Put it into a shot glass
mix the crystals in
Pour the acetone into flat baking dish(glass) where you can scrape it off from
Wait so the acetone evaporates
It will be gooey first, but if you scrape it up a bit, for example zigzag it with piece of metal wire, it will harden quickly, otherwise it might take 24-48 hours to fully evaporate and harden
Scrape up with razor blade
