Edibles. The good and bad.

Migrated topic.
Edibles should never be taken by weed newbies.
You need to have a proper history of use to properly deal with edibles and their possible "bad side".

Tolerance always helps and also people who tend to get paranoid from weed should just avoid them alltogether.

Yeah definately. The first time i ate weedbuttercake, everything and everyone around me changed into a cartoon. Including myself.

But if you know the exact dose you take, i think it could be safe and even pretty comfortable for newbies.

Just start low. Something like 0.2 grams of weed or hash shouldn't be too heavy.

from my experience, issues with edible cannabis are almost always caused by too high dose.
Even newbie is able to really enjoy it, if the dose is right.

I recommend to NOT eat it in a tasty food, so no brownies. Other form, which does not hide the taste, is better.
Unexperienced users are not so tempted to eat too much then.

To eat some brownies of unknown strenght (most likely prepared by some chronic cannabis user with high tolerance) in a party could be like to drink 1 liter of alcoholic beverage. If it is a beer, then ok. If it is a strong 50% spirit, then you have a problem.

I prefer very concentrated infused oil, like olive oil, which can be dosed by drops.
Of course, your digestion needs to be activated by some food.

Hey, whatsup?:) I had my first thc edible at 21, after having smoked weed since 15, mostly regularly, with only a 2 year break, and I was very ready for it. Better yet, I made the cannabutter myself so dosage was safe. I did eventually overdose and get the sweats (you get so cold you cant stop shaking) and curl in the fetal position and blackout. A hot bath can cure it if you can manage to get out from under the covers. But its so cold...
After having one of those it becomes harder to have one and easier to navigate if you do get one.
I really love how I think when I am blazed on edibles...I get so sensitive its ridiculous, but I am all for that. It was alone on edibles that I realized I had to try other psychedelics.
*It is nice to eat an edible the day after having a changa trip. In my experience its enhanced.
My favorite thing about edibles is when I feel my heart fall like when on a rollercoaster. Generally when I lay down too fast I close my eyes and this starts the ride... But other times, in meditation position, when smoking joints on shrooms, I get this feeling but it turns much more intense, like being struck by an arrow straight through the forehead, chest, other main points....I think if chakras do exist thats how them opening would feel lol

The edibles can be a tricky game, overdoing it can turn into the high that never stops.
Less is always more especially when your dealing with an unknown edible.
Back in the day friends and I made brownies that came out like a cake.
We proceeded to eat big slices with forks.
It was waaay too much.
Its the only time I was so high I actually thought I was going to die.
this took place in a cabin
in the wilderness so I had to deal with it myself and wait it out.
That being said these days a small piece of a weed cookie once in a while can be a really nice perfect thing after a long work day.

Does anyone else think weed can be psychedelic?

I'm jk..

But this is sad. I went and skinned the original thread too... Lots of factors here...
But then this is why I choose to know my body and mind well and practice harm reduction when it comes to chemicals.

I usually only eat edibles by myself and if I have a day off the next day. From 15-25 I could smoke pot all day everyday and edibles were a breeze, but now weed makes me paranoid, probably because I think too much about all of the responsibilities I have being older now (31).

I only like to smoke pot with other people if I'm drunk, other wise I barely even crave it because I associate paranoia and laziness with it, but it's different for everyone.

I love edibles but it's often a heavy experience, bringing up very visceral kind of fears - sometimes it allows me to discover some deep seated fears I can never see on any other psychedelics, like discovering a deep well behing grandparent's house and deciding to explore its depths...

As a harm reduction, I prepare a chocolate from a known amount of dry flower (usually 1 gram) and about 100 grams of cocoa butter and cacao, then titrate the dose slowly by taking larger pieces which are weighed - I often end up eating 36 grams tops.
