TEK Ethyl acetate approach [CIELO]

This topic contain a TEK
Migrated topic.
before using the solvent in the technique have you seen it create a separate layer from water? In the past I've bought ethyl acetate which already broke down to ethyl alcohol and vinegar before I used it.

Also if you used weak cactus material the tek has trouble precipitating the citrate and furmaric acid is now suggested.

I bought the EA from a lab a week ago and the powder I made myself from an old San Pedro Cactus I have been growing for 11 years. I took a 1,8m cutting and only used the green skin to make the powder. So I tried to take the most concentrated part of the plant. The EA never formed any separation layers.

I was wondering if I should add more citric acid or maybe more EA, cause I started with the minimum amount of water with the powder?

Maybe the cactus is inactive? I've had inactive peruvianus in my collection. Post a picture if you can
Wil do. I remembered I tried the A+B tech with no Xtals also forming and the only thing that was a constant in my preperation was using the same cactus. Meaning I need to find another.

Here is the species I made the powder from. From photo 1 - 3 given to me as Trichocereus packanoi but on inspection it looks like a hybrid at best? , Photos 4-6 is another species according to the person who gave it to me it's Trichocereus peruvianus but it looks like Trichocereus pachanoi? Let me know what you think. There are too many people selling the wrong plant :(

Trichocereus peruvianus seems like the correct ID but they are quite variable in activity. I've seed grown a few and out of 7 only 1 was active.
They look like peruvianus except for second plant that is not as blue and looks like pachanoi... strange you get zero crystals but not uncommon.

Thanks a mill for the help. The blue'ish one gets alot of shade here and the one with green is in full sun all summer, so I don't know if that affects their appearance. I will make sure to get a species I can trust and redo the experiment.

Bridgesii is most reliable… I’ve had weak bridgesii but never inactive

Anyone ever tried mixing the lime with powder then instead of doing the pulls, packing the whole lots into a soxhlet and leaving it to continually go with the EA

There was a dude on Reddit that did exactly this. The main factor would be the size of your Soxhlet. I’ll try to find the link (can’t find I think he deleted it) did multiple runs but using the same solvent volume.

Yippee Yippee Yippe

So after my first failed attempt at the Cielo tech. I realized there are only 2 other options, as I tried the xylene tech before and also had no results, the options I had was:
1) Use fumaric acid
2) Use a different Trichocereus cactus.

I also had a suspicion the cactus I used before was PC and there was absolutely no mescaline in the plant.

So I cut a 1,8m column from my Trichocereus pachanoi
Left it a week indoors, then removed the spines, removed the wax layer. Cut the column into strips and removed the white part and only dehydrated the green part of the Trichocereus pachanoi. Turned it into powder once it was dry and would you believe it, I had 100grams exactly. Was this fate?

I used 50grams as I wasn't sure if I still needed to purchase the fumaric acid.
I followed the cielo tech but for 50grams.
After the last extraction I poured it all into my old glass container and it turned a milky green. Maybe I had some residue left from the previous batch that failed. And before I added the citric acid I could see the crystals was starting to precipitate out. I am delighted. "see attached photo".

I added the required 2,5grams citric acid and left it on the stir plate, I can see the crystals crashing out of the solution.
As soon as it clears out I will send a photo of the results ;)

Thanks for all the moral support and fantastic tech.

So the members struggling with no crystals.
Try another Trichocereus cactus. There are rumours that some Trichocereus cactus has no or little mescaline
If so I hope you have success.
Thanks to all :D
I am ecstatic.

Update :
4 hours later : A lump layer of crystals at the bottom and on the glass "see photos"
9 hours later : Most crystal have settled at the bottom, some on the glass walls.
24 hours later : Not much have changed, there are more crystals forming on the glass wall but that is it "See attached photos"

Looks great, what yield did you get.? Congrats on a solid result 👍🏻
