hi there my psychonaut friends i am new to this forum and first i want to say this is a very good site and like the idea of giving information and knowledge. swim was wondering what is the best form to heat naphta????
Without specialist equipment a good method would be to warm it in a sealed glass container (a good strong one like a mason, kilner or canning jar would be perfect) set in a large bowl of hot water from the kettle.
As the containers will suck away a fair amount of the heat you may have to replace the water a few times to get a fair amount of heat going through the solvent.
Watch out for pressure build up when opening your container.
Warming your naphtha is definitely a good idea to increase yields but you need to do it carefully.
Never directly heat it or have flames near it.
The way my friend does it is like this: Boil a pan full of water. Put the naphtha in a pyrex measuring jug, put it in the pan. Leave it for about 15 mins.
My friend likes to put a towel around the space between the edge of the pyrex jug and the edge of the pan to keep the heat trapped in there.
Naphtha in mason jar placed carefully in a hot water bath.
Hot water bath can be as simple as heating up some water in a pot on the stove, turning off the stove, and putting the jar of naphtha in the hot water.
Never, ever put a cold jar in hot water and never ever put naphtha anywheres NEAR an open flame.
