Help my failed resin!

Boiled the powder (kratom), let it simmer for a good while, when the water finally evaporated it was still a very powdery substance. no gooey resin like substance at all.

i added more water, kept simmering, and it is now in the oven at 200 degrees fehrenheit.

i was going to fan it out after, but what else needs to be done to make sure its the good resin substance. this still looks awfully powdery to me...

*i probably should have filtered / squeezed somewhere in the mix. i just boiled the powder down without filtering it. hope this is fixable*

edit. just checked it in the oven, and it looks like a semi-wet glob of powder

Well, for starters, did you filter out the powder from the tea before evaporating the water? I don't think using powder is a good idea with resin, I doubt it will work well to filter it. I nonetheless hopes it turns out okay!

no i didn't filter it. the video said just boil it down, and it eventually makes resin.

what do i do with this product now to make it into a good resin? its pretty much a clumpier powder still

I'm sorry, what? You added water to your powder, heated it, evaporated the water and thought that was going to magically create a resin? You will of course need to filter out the solids. The whole idea of a resin is that you get the goodies plus some oils and plant fats, without any solids. Again, I don't think it will be easy to filter a powder. Try putting it in capsules. :)

Welcome to the Nexus by the way!

^ this website made it look incredibly easy. don't see how that end result was achieved...i did the same thing the video shows....except my result was a wet powder

*edit* ok i didn't do this with kratom tea. so i need to turn this product into a tea first, and then boil the tea until the tea becomes a resin?? hm.....

its already a powder so it makes it more difficult i suppose. help a dude out!

Well, YouTube videos about entheogens and other herbs are notoriously filled with inadequate information or plain misinformation. If you think about it for a second, there's no reason in the world that what you performed would yield a resin. The powder will not magically disappear and leave you with resin. Resin is everything in the plant minus the solids. If you should remove the solids, well, then you would have to remove the solids.

Evaporate the water and consume the powder in capsules or something, it will work great. :)

i think i've got to make it into tea first. i forgot that step.

i'm not eating it, i'm turning it into resin.

i guess i've got to turn this wet, clumpy powder into kratom tea, and then boil the TEA down until it makes a resin....right?!?

Yeh. Never listen to youtube..

1. get your powder gunky bs, and put it in a pot with boiling water.

2. heat mixture for 3-5 minutes(steeping)

3. filter out junk with coffee filter

4. set in crockpot on low heat to make a nice resin.

Dude... Man... Dudeman...

Yeah, of course you have to make a tea and reduce the water. You don't open a tea bag, put the content into your cup with some water and expect that to be a nice tea without any solids, do you? Of course you will have to keep the solids in the tea bag, or filter out the solids when the tea is done. The whole idea with making a tea or a resin is that you extract the goodies and leave the solids behind. The water from the tea can then be evaporated and you will have a resin. Do I need to explain this any clearer?

Please explain each step you are doing in detail. I really don't see how it is even remotely possible to do this wrong. I have explained the procedure several times.

Why don't you just eat the powder? Put it in capsules, put it in rolling paper and drop it, mix it with orange juice, whatever you prefer.

I think i just had the burner on way too high.

A lot of it got caked onto the side and i think a good amount just evaporated as i was boiling it on pretty high

I yielded a little bit of solid resin, but it was a very small amount.

For someone wanting good kratom resin, its probly smarter to just buy it as resin from a good, reputable source than trying to make it out of powder....

Better bang for the buck I would assume (after this failure)

Next time, you should rely on information from more trustworthy sources than YouTube videos made by college kids. You should also think through what you are doing. I mean, not removing the solids and prying to God that the solids will magically disappear? Dude... Man... Dudeman... (That never gets old )

^ lol.

if it never gets old, you can even use that phrase on your 1,000th post!

go ahead! let's hear it!

(you'd better make this meaningful!)

I never liked Kratom Resin. Making a tea then filtering out the solids, in my opinion is the best way to go. Not to mention unless you make enough resin for quite a few doses it unnecessarily takes quite a lot of time and work for a substance that is edible on its own (with very minimal, if any negative side effects)

Step 1 - Put water and kratom in a pot
Step 2 - boil
Step 3 - Add more water
Step 4 - Filter out solids
Step 5 - Drink tea

Easy as pie.
