I did look at the posts around the topic here and still not sure where things land. Heptane seems like the better mechanism for pulling and purity and is just higher cost. If cost was no issue than what if any is the advantage to Naptha (VM&P of course.)

Isn't Naptha just a cointaining chemical alcaloid, if your thing is 100% heptane, it is also "100% naptha"... I also got confused by this in all honesty. Checking chemical safety sheets etc....

I'd say heptane (C7) petroleum is the cleaner way since it doesn't have a mix of other chemicals usuallly if we should get picky.
Naptha C5-C13? usually more things in it. I've heard rumours you're looking for a products with C5-C9...

but most important I think would be the boiling point of Heptane, evaporation need to happen after a freeze, the higher boiling point 80C will take forever to evaporate on its own.

I don't know I am relatively new aswell.

Naphtha is a mixture of different hydrocarbons. In my experience, every company has several different formulations, VM&P being the most prefered. The formulas in my area often contain hexane, a nasty neurotoxin, so I don't use it. In addition to doing an evaporation test to see if your brand leaves behind any residue, I recommend checking the label to see if contains hexane. If it does, consider your options, or look into what you can do to minimize exposure through vapor and skin contact.

Heptane is safer to use, but ime, evaporates quite quickly, even in a sealed glass container in the freezer. Nexians often recommend its use for recrystalizations.
