How We Smoked DMT – Our Experience & Recommendations
 Background
Before our ceremony, we did a lot of research online on the best methods for vaporizing DMT. Many experienced users recommend the Glass Vapor Genie (GVG) as the gold standard due to its efficiency and smoothness. Unfortunately, when we tried to order one, it was on backorder and never arrived in time for our ceremony. The company’s customer service was very disappointing calls went straight to voicemail, and emails went unanswered.
With GVG out of the picture, we researched alternatives and found two options often mentioned online:
1. Dynavap M7 (manual vaporizer)
2. Puffco Peak / Pivot (electronic vaporizer)
We also purchased a microscale for precise dosing and a torch lighter for the Dynavap since it is manually heated.
 Our Experience with Each Device
Dynavap M7 – Terrible for DMT
Despite multiple attempts, we could only get a few small, inconsistent hits.
Dynavap is really designed for herbs and weed, not DMT.
The heat control was poor, leading to either burning or wasting the material.
Verdict: We do NOT recommend Dynavap for DMT at all.
Puffco Pivot – Much Better
Puffco Pivot (similar to Puffco Peak) worked far more consistently.
The challenge: it has 4 heat settings (blue, green, red, white), and we didn’t
know which one worked best.
Here’s what we found:
Heat Setting Experience
White (max) Way too hot – burned lips and throat, very harsh. Avoid. Red Produces a strong hit and allowed for a breakthrough, but still harsh on the throat.
Green Smoother than red, good potency, moderate harshness.
Blue (lowest) Smoothest, easiest to inhale and hold. Allowed for deeper, longer breaths and a calmer overall experience. Surprisingly, blue still produced breakthrough-level effects because we could breathe better and hold the vapor in longer.
 Our Recommendation
1. Start with Blue: It’s the smoothest and easiest to manage. Take a few good hits, inhale deeply, and hold. Blue is less harsh, making it easier to get a full dose.
2. If you want to experiment: Try Green next—it’s slightly more intense but still manageable.
3. Red only if you’re comfortable: It can lead to more intense breakthroughs but is harsher. We do not recommend White—it’s unnecessarily hot and unpleasant.
 Final Tips
Weigh every dose with a microscale for consistency (Many people online recommend around 30–40mg for a “breakthrough” hit)
Have a sitter or trusted friend present—especially if it’s your first time.
Focus on breathing: The ability to inhale fully and hold your breath matters more than just cranking up the heat.
Avoid Dynavap entirely—it’s frustrating and wastes material.
This was our experience—hopefully, it helps others who are curious about how these devices compare. If you can get a Glass Vapor Genie, it’s still considered the best option, but if not, Puffco Pivot on Blue or Green is a great alternative for a smooth, reliable experience.
