Is our reality a school/prison also after this life?

Migrated topic.

EDIT INFO: 08.03.2010

Forgot to say: Hopefully the ones who followed this old thread in the past are going to read the new one, because I am going to clarify many things. It is, of course, your choice.

I have to assemble some information first and that takes some time.

All the best!

EDIT INFO: 05.03.2010

Hello all,

I deleted all of my posts in this thread. It was solely my decision. The information I presented lacked clarity imo. Don't worry, in the future, I am going to make all posts (including my deleted posts) of this old thread available to anyone who wants to read them.

In the new thread, I am going to present my point of view with more clarity. It might be presented here in this thread or I will open another one. This new thread maybe located in the section "Philosophy/Spirituality/Science" or "First Questions for Information". Just search for my nickname "observationtype" or watch out for the topic headline "Is our reality a prison even after death?" or a similar topic headline.

Kind regards,

Hey Friend, I discovered a person who posts here that is neck-deep in these kind of speculations. He's probably not to popular around this site but I would rather consider all perspectives on the spice than only the pros. You can type his name into the search engine to read his posts- his name is litrium. Good luck on this line of inquiry, it will be awesome to hear what people think either way!

Hi observationtype,

Interesting and as far as I know somewhat unusual hypothesis. We embodied, Earth-bound souls can only speculate on such things. Almost reminds me of a tweak on the Ancient Egyptian belief that you could not make it to The Field of Reeds (people like me) or to the stars (people like the Pharoahs) without keeping your physical body (or at least a nice image of it) intact here in the 3-D realms.

All of my DMT experiences have led me away from a strong-seated atheism and towards a powerful belief based on direct (sacrament/drug mediated admittedly) experience that our true natures, though not godlike as I understand the word, are in fact infinite. For reasons unknown to the likes of myself, I suspect there is no reincarnation either - we get one single go around on this Earth and hopefully we can learn from a young age onwards to savor every single moment.

The body is the filter, the mediator of the experience of our soul/true selves during life. Thus, things like pain, brain injury, drugs, hormones and other factors can directly affect our perceptions and experiences. Once (brain)death occurs, I suspect there is an experience (including the instant and irreversible/permanent separation of consciousness from the body) that is unknowable and indescribable, yet is vaguely comparable to a DMT breakthrough of the most equisite and extraordinary type - the types that yield a sense of otherworldliness, hyper-dimensionality, profound feelings of expansion and entanglement as well as a level of synesthetitic ecstacy that is incomprehensible in it's information content and unity to bring all of history, all potentialies and possibilities together into a single point. The experience will be free of things like ego and self and possibly even history or memory, but I suspect that some of this might be there. I suspect it will be like an awakening, a remembering, a returning to a "place" where we left a part of ourselves at birth, that we never fully, truly left. . .

Heh, heh, the rants go on even though I abstain from DMT use. I LOVE the spirit molecule.

Again, observationtype, welcome. I hope that should you choose to experiment with DMT that you will post your experiences and your thoughts.

Peace & Love,
Pandora

in response to the op:

I think more like this: I am alive, right now.. I could live my day obsessed with all sorts of conspiracy matrix nightmare-like scenarios about existence, or I could live daydreaming the most lovely puffy sweet fantasies..... Or... I could just live, now, try to make the best out of every moment, because who knows the before and after, but at least the now is there and can be used productively.

You know, like, recycle, be good to your neighboor, be patient, be healthy, be as conscious as possible, be self-critical and strive for self improvement. Dont get caught up in too many distractions.. ETs and illuminatis or not, the firewood still needs to be gathered if you know what I mean. AND HAVE FUN! Because who knows if there is another ride, but this one is guaranteed :)

I agree fully with endlessness. His quote summarizes one of the things DMT has taught me that I know is true, that I do not have to classify as a strong belief. Make the best of each moment - we just don't know when that safe will fall on our head, drink spill on our keyboards and freak electrify us or (more likely) the heart attack, stroke or T-Bone (a type of side-impact vehicular accident) will take us out.

Also, having had a few ego-deaths and "breathing issues" in hyperspace, I have come to really appreciate just how wonderful each day is, just how sweet each and every breath can be.

Nothing is guaranteed. Not one of the 50 plus BILLIONS of dead people have come back to testify as to what it was like, contrary to what Earth-bound religions would have us believe . . .

Peace & Love,

oh yeah, by all means think about whatever you might be interested in! Its just by the way you described, it seemed like it is really bothering you and being negative to you, so I felt like giving you some perspective on how it shouldnt make you feel THAT bad, you know? :) But if just a philosophical interest, then go ahead and continue debating :D

i have seen the prison as well...at first i was pissed..but then..i realized that because there IS an OUT there..that means we werent always IN here..which means we can get out...when i first saw the prison...it is obviously way too advanced of a system to escape from...but i feel like there MUST be some way...almost like a puzzle or riddle...ive been working on figuring it out...but so far...no luck ;)

"There is a strangeness in the water today. It is more like the blood from the bodies upstream."

Those dead trees speak of a world that has been and gone, the world that is being refreshed is as chaotic as the next. There is a constant wave of activity in the sky, and there will be no more god when we are at one with the end.
There is a prison on the Earth, there is no prison in our minds, we are only locked into reality. The fine walls of that which we make for ourselves is our reality. The thing that brings us into the corner and leaves us lashing out toward ourselves is the chaotic unknown. There is that which we can see now and that which we have devoted no earthly knowledge toward only in speculation.

We cannot ever know that which we might tell ourselves for there is no revenge in rapture.

I recall reading some Gnostic Theory over at Metahistory.com (http://bit.ly/7JGeyI) which seemed to indicate that these deceptive inorganic entities called Archons attempt to magnetize our life - essence to keep us from progressing to our ultimate destiny. Interestingly, the article was adamant about stressing a particular tactic used by Archons when we die. They are said to manipulate humanity thru institutional religion, creating human attraction to various religious forms and symbols, and that when we die we pass thru a kind of Bardo or test. One might see a cross, or someone who looks like the white bread Jesus and the faithful will gravitate toward the form and their souls become magnetized and are hitched back onto the illusory wheel of samsara.

I know this sounds utterly crazy, but hey, I'm talking to experienced DMT travelers. Nothing is too crazy! After reading it, that image has always stuck with me because it was given with a grave warning- to not fall for the delusional tactics of the Archons.

In addition, I think the study of the gnostic concept of the Archons would serve to illuminate many of the subjects broached in these kinds of threads here at the Nexus. Here are some links to some Archon articles from Metahistory.com:

I'll share my view for what it's worth.

I don't think there is a prison. Look around at all life on earth around you; trees, whales, birds...etc. We humans are really the first to stop say "Woa, wait a minute...What are we?". I think we've either long since broken out of the prison or that there isn't one at all. We are constantly finding new and exciting technology breakthroughs...Theories of the universe, cures for diseases, among other spectacular feats. We have analyzed nature and understood much about other species on earth yet we have never communicated with them directly. We're definitely out of the loop in terms of nature, we are self aware and contemplating our own creation.

The only loose end is what we see and feel while taking psychedelic drugs. I think it's important to keep in mind that these drugs are simply altering the way our brain works temporarily. I'm not one to try and convince people what to believe...But where do you draw the line?

I am a conscious being, but how can you tell that I'm not just a "matrix" agent trying to convince you to ignore this? I know myself, and I know I'm no agent but you have to draw the line somewhere. You see how destructive this thinking can become? What about your parents, are they agents? Your friends, your dog, your teachers, the neighbours......It's an endless cycle of paranoia where you can trust nobody but yourself. What if all the information we've ever learned about biology and science and space was all just lies to make you occupy your time?

==================================================

My personal view of death is this. What do you remember of before you were born? From the big bang until your birth you remember absolutely nothing. 13 billion years went by in an instant, we have no knowledge of it. I think we return to this nothingness after death. The universe will continue on for billions of years as if it were an instant. You could argue, what if they wipe our minds and force us into a new body? Well I would argue back, what if putting us into a body is a gift? What if we are spiritual beings but we got bored of watching the universe. We would wipe our minds so that we wouldn't get bored experience a meaningless thing like human life.

I mean, something just doesn't seem right.
I agree with you. Something isn't right, I mean what exactly are we? What is matter, why does it exist at all. What was before the universe, some would say nothing. How do we get nothing? If I think of what I was before I was born, how do we relate that to the universe. How can nothingness exist at all, I cannot imagine what it would be.

ive had a similar thought that has haunted me for a long time, more based in physical theory though. if there are an infinite number of parallel realities, then in at least one, well actually in an infinite number of them, you somehow live, forever, as everything youve known in the universe falls to bits.

I tend to agree with this prison idea, and Jesus admits that we are gods:

John 10:34-35 "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken"

The Matrix is a nice analogy to our situation. I feel that the agent like beings are actually demons, and they somehow derive energy from us. Not electricity, but maybe some spiritual currency, and I think fear is how they milk us. The worse we feel, the more energy we produce for them. Maybe they just do it for entertainment?

The way out of the prison is to die to self. This process is explained in the Gospel, and Buddhism also presents a similar process through the Four Noble Truths and Eightfold Path. I don't know how we got into this situation, but I do believe we'll get out of it. Like Popeye getting bashed, with Olive Oyl about to be kidnapped by some Octopus monster - we just got to get our spinach, and then we'll be kicking some serious ass.

welcome to the forum!

1st of all this is a very interesting discussion you have instigated. I do find the strength of opinions expressed here and passionate well articulated responses rather engrossing.

I am extremely open minded and welcome such "conventially far fetched" thought processes and abstract thinking out the box (or "out the prison" if u like :d )

all I know is we know nothing and ideas such as this are just as plausible as everyone going to heaven and hell ect ect so i suppose nothing can be ruled out, infact it would be ignorant even dangerous to do so.

I do agree with endlessness that becoming obsessive or disallusioned (none of which i am attributing to you:d ) on such matters can only be detremental and the gathering fire wood analogy was perfect

none the less this is an interesting subject and i look forward to reading more!

Concerning my parents, I believe they are agents and for many years, I did not believe so. If you grow up, this possibility seems outrageous and you are blinded by the illusion. But I can tell you, they have certain character traits, you can sense that something is missing..

please humour me here, I was amazed by this comment, Im pretty sure i read it within context and it was not sarcasm or irony no?
im sure it wasnt.
anyway please dont be offended but I am curious of how you came to this conclusion, could u describe in more detail what traits, signs or evidence you accumulated which led you to assume your parents are "agents"
also do you think they know that you know and if not what would be the consquences of being exposed in this situation?
I ask these questions seriously and am in no way taking the piss, its not in my nature.
I find you and your posts enthralling and am interested in what you have to say friend:d

incidently I also enjoyed litriums posts, even though I did not share his enthusiasm, I neither agreed nor disagreed but found his ideas and replies equally engaging

thank you

[[[***NOTE: After reviewing my post, I was struck with how upset this thread made me and I tried to understand why. I believe that part of the reason is diction. The posts by observationtype use more than just confident diction, the ideas are written as if they are fact. Later in the posts, the author will say that none of the thoughts are anything more than hypothesis. It is identical to the SWIM philosophy. We say "SWIM" to avoid self-incrimination and responsibility for our posts, just like when observationtype makes claims, argues them and then announces that nothing said is more than just a possibility. Just like with "SWIM", we know the true intent of what is said and these not-so-clever tactics should not be overlooked. I also found many of the comments made by the author of this thread completely inaccurate, usually when he/she refers to "government," "society" or "religion" in general. It shpongles my mind how someone can over-generalize so much, and yet be so confident in their words. The idea of matrix-agents that is presented in this thread is a dividing tactic that can only hurt a community like this. We all have our own ideas. No one is Agent Smith if they disagree with something that is said on the forum.

The most frustrating part about it all, is that I agree with the basic principles of the psychedelic experience that observationtype has corrupted. I agree with the concept of Oneness. I agree that our mind or brain limits our understanding of reality. I agree that we exist indefinitely and that we cannot die. I agree that we have great creative potential. It pains me to see such beautiful concepts turned into nonsense and such ugly conspiracy theories.***]]]

I have a lot of problems with your philosophy, observationtype, so I'm going to try and do my best to respond to your statements in small groups. This post is in the spirit of debate. You seem very willing to civilly respond to all sorts of replies, which is appreciated. In the spirit of debate, though, I hope to crush your every argument into a multitude of abominations from which they will never recover.

observationtype said:
What if our spirits are stuck in complexity?
(Quite possibly the only thing that we agree on.) It's much less of a question and more of a fact. Our brains are that very complexity that you speak of. Our spirits reside in our brain and observe(at the very least) information that the brain has interpreted. We are definitely stuck in these brains for now, until death or DMT do we part(or meditation, sleep).

From the rest of your post, though, this question is one that also suggests that being stuck in this complexity is undesirable. You go on later to say we need to "free" ourselves, etc, so I believe my assumption that you believe it is undesirable to be correct. After all, why would we want to free ourselves of something that was positive and desirable?

I would like to propose that this complexity that we exist in is in fact useful and generally positive. It boils down to two reasons:

1) There is great stability in our ability to think, reason and live.
2) There is amazing potential for a great tragedy-free world to exist one day

Were we in the "DMT-state" all the timeless, we would not have any level of stability of emotions. We would fly through time and space and consciousness and be forever engulfed in the amazingly profound truths that are at our very core. For me, that seems tiring. I enjoy my sober waking hours because they are simple. I can reason. I can enjoy. I consider it my "sleep" from the psychedelic experience.

As for potential for a tragedy-free world, remember that our species is young. We are not on a train towards inevitable destruction. Believing in "Doomsdays" like 2012 are an insult to our ability to reason, do good for others, and strive forward. We have just recently invented the systems and technologies of world-wide connection(the internet, wireless tele-communication, radios, even snail mail). Let's see how that plays out before damning our species to a suffering-ridden future.

observationtype said:
What if some higher, malevolent, negative entities, which are also part of our total godnature, decided to create a spiritual system prison/trap and not a school?
Whoa. Hold up. I fully admit that anything is possible, but why jump to this conclusion?

fourthripley said:
Why do you think reality is a prison?
Good question.

observationtype said:
I could also ask you this: Why do you NOT believe that reality is a prison?
Bad question. Why don't you believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster(FSM)? Because there are thousands of possibilities that no one can disprove. This is why we, in the community of logic-users, instead focus on what we can prove.

observationtype said:
Look at how the governments give us passports so that we have an identity, for our ego, for our physical body.
That is not why our government gives us passports. This is a seriously flawed understanding of our system. Ask yourself, do you define yourself based on any of the documents that the government has given you? Does your Driver's License really help you sustain an ego? Or is it a very useful piece of plastic to use for quick identification purposes and identity-theft prevention, among other positive uses?

observationtype said:
Look at how we have to work for money, the god of our times.
I'm looking and I find the idea of working for money a good one. Many societies now also have welfare and unemployment benefits, in case you feel like not working and still getting money, or are in-between jobs.

observationtype said:
Look at how materialistic and self-service oriented our society is.
Or try looking at our good aspects? Like a high education level, long lifespan, social-connectivity, amazing technology. I'm with you that we're not a selfless society, but we're not just a selfish one either. There's a loving family for every broken one.

observationtype said:
Look at how mind-opening drugs like dmt, lsd etc. are banned and selfdestructive drugs like alkohol, cigarettes etc. are allowed.
Yep. It sucks. Luckily, thanks to the internet and open-minded psychologists, accurate information is now being distributed and is easily available. It may not happen in your lifetime, but these laws will eventually change. Even now, developed countries like the Czech Republic are allowing legal consumption of some psychedelics, in this case magic mushrooms.

observationtype said:
Look at our social norms, political correctness and shallow niceness.
I'm personally insulted that you think our niceness is shallow. Maybe you are confusing the shallowness of reality-TV with actual reality.

observationtype said:
Look at how religions want us to believe that there is a personal god for each of us.
I'm not sure where you got that notion. There are 5 main religions of the world. The largest, Christianity, believes in only 1 God. Islam also believes this. Judaism also believes this. Gods are not even relevant to Buddhism. Maybe you believe that worshiping personal gods is naive? The only major religion that does this is Hinduism, and not even all Hindus take part. Do you believe Hindu traditions are immoral? I'm sure they're just waiting for you to free their minds.

observationtype said:
Religions don't tell us that we are gods!
No, but Ramtha's School of Enlightenment does! So does just about every New-age inspirational speaker. Don't get me wrong, I think this idea is very empowering. But even if we are gods, we are also human. There will be no magic powers and no magic beans for anyone. A better message to send to people is that if you can't even master your human powers, you certainly aren't going to master the power of the gods.

observationtype said:
I do not want to be an enemy of the state, talk all things bad or something, but...
but... you will anyways? Don't deny who you are, observationtype. If you're going to be an enemy of the state, take credit! If you really don't want to "talk all things bad," then don't. But I have a feeling that you do. I want to say "actions speak louder than words" but that isn't entirely relevant on a text-based forum lol.

observationtype said:
To make this whole system work, there might even be "matrix agents". Individuals without spirit who can be characterized as intelligent but lack some sort of deeper feelings, creativity or service to others mentality, so that humans with spirit act as they do. Some sort of social programming so to speak. These agents would then be too part of a spiritual technology. I would assign them even such a high intelligence as to deliberately talk the prison hypothesis in this thread down. This doesn't mean that criticism isn't welcome here - just to clarify the extent of what I hypothesize.
What an interesting strategy. Call anyone who disagrees with you a "matrix agent." Your McCarthyism, fear-mongering and crazy theories based on the logic of "well, you can't disprove them" is an insult to sound reason.

observationtype said:
What I would like to know from you, fellow SWIM dmt consumers, is if you have the same impression? Could this be possible? Has this possibility already been discussed here?
No, yes and yes. It is entirely possible. Without any evidence, though, I am just as likely to believe that tomorrow ice cream will come out of my water faucet. The things you list as evidence are in fact gross misunderstandings and insults to multiple cultures, governments, and religions.

observationtype said:
What if a human being has to somehow "keep" the knowledge(=well, speculation as of yet) that this is an illusion and transcend it to a higher dimensional aspect of oneself in order to ascend to higher realms and be more free.
Interesting that after unintentionally insulting Hindu practice, you cite Hindu belief. This concept you are referring to is the Hindu concept of Karma and Moksha.

endlessness - thanks. I agree that your recommended mentality is a good way to live life and make it easy. However, as much as I agree to this "experience-the-moment" mentality, I cannot simply ignore certain aspects of my life which seem quite strange to me.
No, you should not ignore the things that seem strange to you, but you should also not come up with matrix-esque conspiracies. The compromise is to find solid, repeatable, verifiable and observable facts. Try using the scientific method to make new theories. Without it, your theories are only conjecture.

In conclusion, you are a conspiracy theorist trying to make a connection between solid logic(your non-existence/existence theory is logically sound) and completely unrelated topics like matrix-agents, prisons and gods. Just because you have one solid idea does not mean your other theories are backed by it.

Your "way out" is no more than a self-deluding and motivation-empowering trap that will never give people any more power than self-confidence in general. I only hope that you don't sink your money into DVDs, CDs, booklets, camps and shows made by people like J.Z. Knight, or ask other people to sink their money into these poor excuses for human wisdom.

Im just going to keep this really short and sweet. Sometimes organized modern western civilization can be oppressive to individuals that live slightly outside of society's norms. This can feel like a prison.

Take a look around? Do you think this could be what your being is trying to express? Sometimes Entheogens messages can be misinterpreted. Its happened to me a few times.
Occam's razor.

My 2 cents.

You asked a few questions in your last post. I'll answer them here.

observationtype said:
Why are you so negative?
I am aggressive towards you because I believe your various viewpoints to be wrong, misleading, pointless and/or destructive.

observationtype said:
IF matrix agents are really there, would it be WRONG to not talk about their existence?
If you can prove they exist, or find anything I consider evidence (which generally means hard science), THEN it would be wrong to talk about their existence. Until then, yes, it is wrong to talk about their existence as fact. It is wrong to talk of their existence as probable. It is only right to talk about their existence as having the same possibility as the Flying Spaghetti Monster(FSM).

obervationtype said:
Would you rather just ignore this and talk with them about some nonsense they deliberately put in place?
That is not the only other option. I will talk about what I wish to. I will come up with my own theories and try to find hard evidence, not conjecture. Also, your matrix agents could not possibly have deliberately put anything in place if they do not exist. I believe your matrix-agents do not exist, and therefor it is wrong for me to promote such a theory. It is only right that I debunk them until you produce anything resembling evidence.

observationtype said:
Did you look closer?
(Refering to Ramtha's School of Enlightenment)
I did, long ago when the "school" was started. She's a kook, that's for sure. Whether she is trying to tell us that our human form is god-like, or you try to tell us that our form is a prison, you both tell us that we are gods and hope that this motivates us to believe whatever else you have to say.

observationtype said:
I did not know this religion before and quickly identified their "program" as a trap - why didn't you?
I did identify the program as a trap. That is why I am comparing it to your philosophy. I believe both your philosophy and JZ Knight's philosophy to be traps.

If they cheat on me, should I care?
Look, we both have innumerable issues with governments and religions. You previously asked me why I was so negative. I was confused by this, because it is you who only speaks of negatives. I speak of both negatives and positives. Despite my personal beliefs being different from any major religion, I still find many of their teachings to be true and accurate. Sometimes the lessons that I find true in other religions are beautiful and sometimes they are cruel, but every religion out there has some of these truths. If you have specific problems with religions, point them out, but do not disregard them completely because you find fault with one aspect. The way you generalize, I find that you have little knowledge of any specific religion. Your claim that they all tell us we have personal gods is absolutely inaccurate.

observationtype said:
Is this maybe also the reason why entities say "do not give in to astonishment"?
If these entities are to get anything across to us, we have to not give into astonishment. I see no reason to believe that your particular theory is the reason they do this.

I'm going to briefly respond to the initial post. I don't mean to come across as if I know better or that my viewpoint or reality tunnel is any more valid that the person who posted initially, just to clarify that.

My friend, you are suffering from some form of mental illness and I strongly advise you to seek medical attention at the earliest opportunity. These delusions about 'matrix agents' and the idea that your parents are involved in some sort of conspiracy against you are textbook symptoms of several disorders and you need help.

You can call me whatever you want, accuse of me of being involved in the NWO or Illuminati or whatever but I ask you to seek help. This is not some spritual crisis you're going through.

If there's one thing I can tell you about your whole theory it's that you're selecting the information which suits your map of the world. It's natural, you're just not aware of it and you're creating your own mental prison without even realising it. You hold this core belief that the world is a prison so you search all over the internet (the home of absolute truth and undeniable fact...not!), talk to people who think the same thing, scour the virtual world looking for information which matches your version of the truth. The only problem is that, given the nature of the human nervous system and the way that our own sensory filters operate, you can make ANYTHING fit your viewpoint if you try hard enough. You said yourself that beliefs create reality but you clearly do not understand what that really means.

We can all spout some pseudo-psychology bullshit, NLP terms and semantic theories but do you really understand what you're on about? If the world is so wrong, twisted, materialistic, self-service etc etc etc, why not remove yourself from it and go live in the woods somewhere? Why waste your time on a computer telling people about how YOUR theory of the world is more valid than theirs while these atrocities are going on all over the place?

I think that, like so many conspiracy theorists, you'll continue to create your own self-fulfilling prophecy of being persecuted and hunted by the matrix agents while obesessing over the words of fools like David Icke.

Good luck to you but, seriously, get some medical help.

O.A.C.
