Is psychedelic art vastly misrepresenting visuals?

LSD, psilocybin, DMT, mescaline, 2cb can all produce symmetric geometry in my experience.

You have not experienced that with DMT? Have you vaporized DMT?

@CosmicRiver did you experience perfect mandala like symmetry with DMT alone? I had the impression that it is 5-MeO-DMT that causes that kind of energetic structure. Even if symmetry is possible with DMT alone, it cannot be a defining feature of it in my experience and understanding. I don't recall symmetric visuals from cactus. For me it was like a cobweb or electric

Both with ayahuasca and with changa, but it was more fractal-like. And i guess fractals can be callled symmetrical. But not 2D. I have minimal experience with DMT alone without Caapi/Rue extract.
On San Pedro after i smoked some weed i saw neon-bright symmetrical diamond shapes circling the sun and tree crowns appeard perfectly symmetrical like kaleidoscope images

About symmetry, do you guys mean to include perfect mirror images like in popular psychedelic art, or perfect mandala like symmetry on both axes of the entire visuals field? The former I believe is possible but rare and not a defining feature of visuals of any psychedelic. The latter I believe only happens when there is 5-MeO-DMT modulation of the visual field. Correct me if I am wrong.

Damn that sucks bro. I'm the extreme opposite. Though I love all the vibrant psychedelic art. As detailed as it is...my dmt trips blow them out the water. But we gotta appreciate the artists for trying bc its super hard to even grasp where to start

This is what I mean yes. I think I understand what you are referring to where the visions are geometric but they do not emanate out from one central source. Pablo Amaringo’s paintings are an example of what Ian thinking.

I experience more of that style in what I would call my visionary states vs the visuals of lower doses or the start of a DMT(the chrysanthemum)…I get the webs and nets you referred to as well…sometimes moving.

Another phenomenon I have always noticed is that if I make certain noises or play with my singing bowls it can reshape the geometry into full symmetry.
