Mexamine, a possible new psychedelic?

Cool to know I was not the only one!

I'm really surprised more trippers haven't posted their experiments with it yet. Hoping I can eventually test this out in the near future

I think the absence of various groups on the amino group prevents any serious psychoactivity. As soon as you add two methyl groups on mexamine, therefore dimethyl, you get a very strong psychoactive molecule known as 5-MeO-DMT.

5-Methoxytryptamine (5-MT), also known as mexamine, is a tryptamine derivative closely related to the neurotransmitters serotonin and melatonin. 5-MT has been shown to occur naturally in the body in low levels.[1] It is biosynthesized via the deacetylation of melatonin in the pineal gland.[1]

5-MT acts as a full agonist at the 5-HT1, 5-HT2, 5-HT4, 5-HT6, and 5-HT7 receptors

I noticed the 5-ht2 bit and it of course sparked my brain bits with thoughts of melatonin deacetylation and fat rails of mexamine but this almost seems to good to be true...

ah man i even looked up mexamine before i posted, and did not see that thread. thanks man
 
The ideas in this earlier thread, specifically that of giving mexamine to mushrooms so they turn it into 5-MeO sounds to me, a person that is absolutely terrible at even basic chemistry, like magic :D I wonder if anyone took that idea further into experimentation and what the results were.

Well, they might, but you're reminding me of a terrible debacle which occurred a couple or so years back regarding the debunking of the Church of Psilomethoxin [sic].
