Movies worth watching

Migrated topic.
A lot of these are already posted. But theyre so awesome I'll post them again:

Waking Life

American Beauty

Dead Man (I don't think I saw this in the posts, its considered an "Acid Western", absolutely brilliant)

Enter The Void

Donnie Darko

Mulholland Drive

Fight Club

I don't know if these have been listed, but they are worth mentioning.

Pay it forward - A+++ on principle. The world needs more kids like that.

And a movie that just leaves your jaw dropped saying "Dayyyyum" is a 10 min movie called "Spider" available on NetFlix. Definitely worth checking out. Quote from the movie - "You always have to take everything one step too far"

PRIMER - awesome new twist on time travel, done more realistically(i think) but unique.
LOST IN TRANSLATION -bill murray semi-serious
SOMEWHERE - Done by same as ^

It really depends what kind of movies your into
MindF***:
American Psycho
Fight Club
Memento
A Clockwork Orange
Fear and Loathing
A Scanner Darkly

Addiction:
Trainspotting
Requiem for a Dream
Kids

Comedy:
Office Space
Dr. Strangelove

I'd recommend reading the books if you like the movies. American Psycho, Fight Club, A Clockwork Orange, Fear & Loathing, and Trainspotting were all marvelous.

I did a quick scan of all the movies mentioned, and was appalled no one mentioned Kill Bill. Maybe I missed someone recommending it... Great Movie!

Another by Tarantino... Death Proof.

The Fountain was an absolutely wonderful movie. Aronofsky is brilliant so anything by him is a must watch. Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Pi... I think he did The Wrestler too, but it is my least favorite.

For an over the top, ninja movie.....Watch Goemon!

[YOUTUBE]

It's really funny with the English dubbing on Netflix instant watch. 😉

Requiem for a Dream
Pi
(shame I have yet to see The Fountain but imagine I would also include it from what I've read briefly - I hate spoiling films)
Schindler's List
Goodfellas
Cube
Babel
Hellraiser
There Will be Blood
Se7en
Memento
Wall-E
American History X
Reservoir Dogs
Sin City
Up

and The Princess Bride

A few movies that I can watch more than once:

48 Hours
Back to the Future
Black Dynamite
Commando
Enter the Dragon
Evil Dead series
Fantasia
Kung Fu Hustle
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Terminator 2

I think most new movies are very disappointing. Inception for me was/is one of the most overrated movies I have ever seen. I think too many 'alternative' movies are excessively tragic or eccentric just for the sake of it and then are suddenly touted as creative genius and brilliance... Sometimes I think I'm watching different movies to other people :?

"Your knowledge of scientific biological transmogrification is only outmatched by your zest for kung-fu treachery!"

Haha, what a great movie. No one I recommend it to seems to really get it though..

Cannot seem to find a more current Movie thread, so I'll add to this one. Apparently some Dune fans found a bunch of footage that had been edited out of the movie and put it back in, adding another 45 minutes from the 'director's cut'. Since Frank Herbert seemed to have a fascination with psychoactive compounds, I figured there would be some here that would appreciate this fan extended version. Looking forward to watching this soon.

Dune 1984 Alternative Edition Redux

4K version

Enjoy!

Yes, Renegade / Blueberry was very cool. Actually learned about it years ago here on the Nexus, sought it out and loved it. Should probably rewatch again soon.
