Coleman fuel contains about 50% naphtha, 50% aliphatic petroleum distillates, 2% xylene, 2% toluene, 0.5% benzene, green dye and rust inhibitors (to help prevent rusting of internal parts and facilitate long shelf life). The carbon number range is C5 to C9 with a boiling point range of 100-350° F. Coleman Fuel contains up to 25% n-hexane and up to 15% cyclohexane by weight and it is fully hydrotreated to remove aromatics, (reported to contain less than 0.001% benzene). Fuel dyes are dyes added to fuels, as in some countries it is required by law to Dye a low-tax Fuel to deter its use in applications intended for higher-taxed ones. Untaxed fuels are referred to as "dyed", while taxed ones are called "clear" or "white".

Shell VM&P (Varnish Makers and Painters)

One main point to make about VM&P is that people tend to treat it like a It's a certain brand. It is not. It is a TYPE of naphtha made by many many producers. This MSDS is for Shell but the contents may vary for different brands. So asking what is better Ronsonol or VM&P is meaningless unless you know what brand of VM&P you are referring to.

So how safe is ronsonol then?
My friend was planning on using it.
I don't want to order naptha off the internet, and don't feel like checking stores for it, as I doubt I'll find it. But I know walmart has ronsonol.

Well, It seems that Ronsonol is heptane, hextane and octane.

All of the above are good(except coleman because of the dye) and it seems Ronsonol is the simplest if not the purest.

Most hardware stores actually do carry naptha.
