My introduction to spice was a solo operation, I started small and eventually worked my way up to 50mg, which turned out to be my first breakthru. I found myself standing in a cosmic desert being beckoned my 2 gnomes who were peeking out from behind a signpost. I wanted to go and all were sad because I was being held back by a rebelious body left back on the couch. I was so sick, heaving and retching and uhhh. It was so confusing because I couldn't make sense of what was going on, I felt so disconnected from my body and I couldn't figure out how to move or??? When I returned I realized I had thrown up on the floor (luckily I hadn't eaten). But this experience along with several bubbler dropping incidents ( my den has the most interesting smell now ) has stopped me from smoking alone.

So my bf agreed to try with me, after several 30mg trips he tried 50mg and blacked out. He didn't remember anything and decided the spice was not for him. But he had no problem sitting with me. But the problem is he doesn't BELIEVE in the experience. He's a smart guy, but he has the horrible habit of quantifying everything, very a+b=c kinda guy and I hate sharing my experiences with him, he takes a very psyc 101 approach to it all and I couldn't disagree more! So after coming back from a trip last night, basking in the afterglow, stretched out on the couch, I open my eyes to see him sitting on a chair, legs crossed, head resting on his folded hands just staring and waiting to get some insight to my pyche.. well I don't want to do it again. I've decided I need to go back to doing it for myself, by myself, at least until I find a more like minded person to share it with, which at this point seems pretty unlikely.

So, to get to the point, I dont't get sick everytime, but it does still happen and usually when I'm convinced it won't happen again. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it? Also, what do you do with your smoking device? When hitting it a voice seems to come to me saying "hurry, keep going, you need this to get here, one more..." until I don't know what smoking is , let alone how to put it down properly. Any suggestions that might help boost my confidence in smoking alone are greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi and welcome to the Nexus!

I commend you for being such a brave and determined traveler!

I have never felt any nausea when smoking either pure DMT or changa. I have not heard of other people purging or feeling ill to be honest. What does your spice look like and what extraction method did you use?

You might do well to phone a friend. I can understand if you don't want the boif there if he's going to get text book on you. I'd just be a little concerned about the purging. Also, if you do journey alone, please be sure to assume a precautionary posture so that should you purge, you can keep your airways clear.

I would find purging during a DMT journey very distressing.

Maybe you should try changa, it's smoother, easier to smoke and generally friendlier.

Ye, ive gone through that a few times.

Here is a few thought, you could be getting cypersickness, or you need to puke. When I puke its a good thing, really good sense of getting some negative shit out.

So here is how I dealt with it, first off I keopt my eyes closed, I also bring along my puke jug. I also always have my (as silly as this may sound) blanky, my companionnwhe I journey, on the off chance that I do get sick, blanky is there, if the jug is out of reach/unalbe to reach.

Also have you tried different different ways to smoke?

As ghostman said, posture is also important, dont lie down while travelling, I never lie down for this exact reason. Always sitting up or cross legged and head facing my lap.

cybersickness
Simulator sickness, cyber side effects A constellation of findings that may affect those subjected to 'total immersion' virtual reality–VR, in which external audio, visual, possibly–when using a 'virtual glove' also tactile sensation, are replaced by computer-generated information Clinical Autonomic Sx–eg, cold sweats, N&V, motion sickness occurring while 'plugged in' to VR devices, post-session residua in the form of altered perceptions and flashbacks.

taken from cybersickness

Is this what you mean?

ummm, smt like that, my view is that when I experienced this the most, it came from a sense of not being able to join the sound and visuals, the two just dont match. This would mainly happen to me when I had my eyes open.

It hasent happened to me in a long time, but I still do my best to avoid it.

I use A/B with a sodium carbonate wash to clean up, it is white and nice and I don't believe that is the problem. It does not have a toxic sick feeling, more like adrenaline or motion sickness...

I also always get sick with mushrooms, I blame the obvious, but I wonder if it is somehow related. I totally agree with your views on puking... it's not the actual act that is distressing, it does feel like an outlet for the negative. What bothers me is the lack of control over where or how it is going to happen. I think with some precautions I can deal with it. I like to travel on my overstuffed sofa and after reading your suggestion I tried to cross my legs and wedge myself into the corner, it seems like it will hold me up and it's pretty comfortable so I will give a try next time. I love the blanky idea, I always use one because I get cold, but I think I will try a bigger one and make a point to spread it out....

Mostly it is just good to know that I am not the only one
And yes, I need to make changa. There are so many great ideas of what to use and how to go about it that I have been a little indecisive. I am leaning towards cappi and the butane method but???

Thanks to you all and peace!

Unless you are in a hurry don use butane, even powdered white freebase doesn't entirely dissolve in the butane, you end up with a bit of freebase floating around that just gets burnt. Use some pure acetone if you have a day or 2 to evaporate, it seems to dissolve the dmt a lot better.

Ye, no hurry for the changa to evap, caapi is good to use, try the butane method, but to guarantee it infusing properly use some acetone or ipa.

No, there is no hurry here. Thanks for helping me make up my mind, I'll be hunting for materials today...

Nah def not as silly as it sounds =) I have my trip cloak that makes me feel safe and cosy during psychedelic trips, it's like a comfort blanky to me- it's a very thin, cotton pixie looking cloak with a hood.

As ghostman said, the recovery position is very important if you think you might feel nauseous during the experience- and keep a bucket next to where your sitting/laying.
When smoking I get my guide to sit close by incase he needs to grab the bong if I drop it, though all of the times I've managed so far by having a little table directly next to me to place it on as soon as I've pulled the cone- though I do get nervous that I may break it one day if my sitters reflexes aren't quick enough- as when im placing it down and blowing out the smoke I already start getting propelled elsewhere. Maybe you could use a plastic device of some sort- then at least it wont shatter everywhere or cause other such problems..

And yeah I think its sensible to wait for someone that you can feel completely comfortable and in tune with for the experience or just do it alone. I enjoy having someone to bask in the after glow with and talk about my visions and feelings.

Peace x
