Need advice about this solvent (Hexane / Kerosene)

Hi.
I am checking out this solvent sold locally which is a mixture of:

Hexane cas# 110-54-3 and
JP-TS AVIATION FUEL cas# 64742-47-8 with a b.p. of 200-250°C.

I haven't bought it yet, just wondering if it be worthwhile to try it out on some left overs from naphtha pulls, the high b.p. worries me. Hexane with Kerosene, will it pull, will it freeze precipitate?

Hexane with kerosene will pull and freeze precipitate very well but you'll need to recrystallise because the heavy hydrocarbons will leave a residue on and in the (hopefully crystalline) product.

Perhaps you should try finding a solvent with a narrower boiling range since you'll be needing a light naphtha for the recrystallisation anyhow. There is the option of fractionally distilling the hexane out of that mixture but given that you're asking this question it's probably not feasible for you at present.

Good luck with your search, familiarise yourself a bit more with hydrocarbon solvents and their uses and it should become pretty straightforward.

Is the classical fuel (not diesel) could be used for pulling too ? Then backsalt it ?
I'd say yes. I've had success with BBQ lighting fluid in the past. Pulls and freeze precips like a dream, but needs the backsalt.

Thanks DFZ, i may give it a try one day.
For me, it's a good news as naptha is expensive, backsalting is not so complicated, this could improve chemical availability for extracting.
