Newbie to Extraction

NO NEED To Invert or shake Ever ....just lightly swirl jar or gentle stir with a wooden dowl or glass rod .

Why vigerous shaking , inverting ,adjitated stiring...... ?
This is not nessary and just leads to emulsions .

Just an opinion ...feel free to ignore .

Ow for me it doesn't happen often. What I do is I release the pressure from the hot naphta mix by "popping" the lid and then proceeding to the second round of inverting, etc. This prevents the pressure + naphta low viscosity from leaking across the rubber seal.

One thing to prevent is to not let the mhrb lye naphta mixture get under the rubber seal, because it can glide off.

Okay but if you don't mix the mhrb lye naphta solution, the dmt won't dissolve into the naphta.

I'm not sure wym putting your hands in the jar.
Hold on what? No. Once PH has reached 12 the freebase is no longer a water soluble salt and it now prefers to dissolve into the naphtha because both are nonpolar. Like dissolves like. The only reason you would emulsify your solution is to increase surface area but that only speeds up dissolving spice into the naphtha you don't get any more in there. I have no clue in the 7 hells as to what your intention is with HEATING A FLAMABLE LIQUID but godspeed I guess. You don't need to do that by the way. Any amount of increased solubility isn't worth the trade off you can just do multiple pulls.

As for the problem of removing the naph from the top of the solution I have found a solution... heh heh. I got myself a separation funnel. I have yet to test to see if it works but I am working with 1000g of MHRB this weekend so perfect time to test it. I also have other equipment that will help like beakers and a magnetic heater stirring plate but I don't really need those... they just make me happy and open a pathway to doing other non spice related chemistry

Also... I don't know how I'm going to consume my product... at lest for this week while I'm fresh outta money I'm allowed to spend. So I don't really have a piece of glassware that I can use... unless I can MacGyver something together.

So I ran some numbers because I was curious about how high of a concertation of salts I can get in the acetic acid solution while cooking the MHRB. The salts have a water solubility of 35mg/ml to 50mg/ml meaning at 1.7% concentration of salts in MHRB and 1000g of MHRB I should have 17g of salts 17000mg 17000mg/35mg/ml I get roughly 487ml at minimum solubility. I started my process with 500ml of acetic acid solution so I think I'm going to strain and cook a couple rounds through but not all of it which should increase the concentration of freebase I'm able to put into the naph reducing how much of that I have to use. I also will need to use less NaOH.
