Interesting JungleGhost…could you elaborate a little bit more in relation to things like the strain, what it does contain etc?
Hey @JungleGhost .. I'm curious what is the psychedelic element of it once the psilocybin is out of the equation.. I wasn't aware other compounds had been confirmed to have psychoactivity?
One I've read about is Baeocystin.

One company claims selective breeding frm hillbilly strain. Yes baeocystin being main one tests also show Norpsilocin. Had light trip on it few days ago.

Cool.. I've wondered about the activity of baeocystin for a while but didn't realised people had found it so obviously psychoactive.
There are conflicting reports from what I've read. Including it being differently psychoactive. My guess would be that it is.

True - it should be possible to selectively breed for β-carbolines as well.
Here's a line of thought:
- some mushrooms produce harmine
- harmine contains a (condensed) benzene ring with a methoxy group
- this implies the mushroom can methoxylate benzene rings
- some mushrooms also produce phenethylamine
- mescaline is a methoxylated phenethylamine
That's a lot of 'ifs' on the same plate - just to throw this challenge out there for the mycologists and biotechnologists
A mushroom with a good harmine : psiloc(yb)in ratio would already be great!
Well, it's not exactly easy or kitchen-friendly - unless you happen to be a mushroom, I suppose.

Analysis of Ps. Allenii showed level of psilocybin/psilocin similar to cubensis, yet they are clearly twice stronger
Substrate seem to influence the potency too ; looking into feeding them different alkaloid rich acacias....
I'm not sure. Perhaps a harmala rich mycelium on agar would show more of the characteristic glow, but I've never tried this. And does agar work even count as low-tech? But anyhow, if that were the case, maybe it would help with guiding a selective breeding programme.
If anyone can think of a lower-tech approach for harmine boosting in fungi, I'm all ears. Then again, sea buckthorn heartwood might make a good substrate to that end - it's got quite the glow to it, although I suspect that's usually due to harman content, with only traces of harmine.
The sea buckthorn heartwood analysis is still languishing on my to do list, ofc.

does your company also create the syke bar? i have experienced the extract from these kind of mushrooms, it was a horrible uncomfortable experience at small doses.
