SWIM has had less than good yields from Heavenly..and the material is barely active..

I'm no expert, but it sounds like your friend should continue doing pulls. My buddy's pulls got better after the first few.
 
SWIM used a metal spoon to mix the calcium, which the calcium he used was kalkwasser who knows if that was some old shit too. Going with Mrs. Wages next time. SWIM also just skinned a T. Bridgesii and WOW a thousand times easier to work with than Panachoi and way more dark green skin. SWIM is still gonna just dry out and put into capsules. Oh yea absolutely NO HEAT to dry it out an open rack and a good fan does better than anything. Heat seems to reduce potency.

ugh, what a bummer... based on comments in the supplier thread, SWIM was under the impression that Heavenly was reputed to have good cactus and got a bunch of it :(

SWIM has tried Pedro from HP and FV many times now and both were excellent with 100 g of skins always yielding over 1 gram (5 grams in one case!). Like anything natural though, the potency is going to vary from lot to lot. I suspect that the time of year its harvested affects potency.

When SWIM does this tech, he usually lets the d-limonene sit in the cactus mix overnight before doing a pull. Maybe that’s why his yields are so high.

I noticed that FV now has Trichocereus bridgesii powder. Has anyone tried that?
 
SWIM is using an oven set at 200 (as low as it goes) to evaporate with the door on the oven cracked. It seems to be working, but SWIM was worried about damaging the mescaline from the heat... any input would be awesome!
 
SWIM is considering using a dessicant rather than oven as ambient evap is much too slow. Throw in jar and then put the jar into a simple dessication bowl and use similarly to desiccating mushrooms. will post results when reached.
 
Crazy nite SWIM is having. SWIM tried 30 grams of bidgesii, and look out. Ron the tek seems great but I had no luck on my first go round. His supplier was trichoserieus.com great service top of the line quality. Well Swim is off to see the Wizard!!! AAAdios...
 
So my buddy told me that he did this extraction but is having some problems..

His evaporations produced a good amount of white-yellow, orange, and red-brown crystals and goo which smells like bitter soy-sauce, but it doesn't seem to be active! He has taken up to 350mg with very little effect (some apparent sedative effects and goofyness, but It may have been only a placebo). After about 2 hours the 'effects' are gone. This same experience is reported by others who have tried this extract.

He dried the cactus in the oven at 150F, and evap'ed the vinegar in the oven as well. Also, lime was quite difficult to obtain - he ended up purchasing the lime from an indian grocery store (called "Raja Chuna" - says 100% CaOH), but it is obviously quite old.

He's trying to figure out the problem. Possible causes:
1) Bad cactus. Fresh San Pedro was found and dried. Misidentification is possible, but very unlikely. It's san pedro alright, but maybe it lacks the goods? Some is still left, he might be able to take picturs.

2) Bad lime. The stuff was olddd - all clumped together. Could this make a difference?

3) Heat. 150F *shouldn't* hurt the cactus or mesc. acetate, right?

4) Inaccurate weighing - some of the goo was not fully dried, potentially causing an over-estimation of weight due to residual vinegar.

Any thoughts?

BTW, my buddy would like to thank 69ron and everyone in this thread for the great info!

finally got round to trying it and I'm stuck on the very first hurdle; my mix was sitting for 4 hours, no emulsion, but no separation either, maybe ~10mls limonene sitting on top of very sludgy cactus. So I made myself a coffee press from a bit of a sieve, a pen and a screw and tried to squash some solvent out of the mix, but this did nothing except mix the tiny limonene layer back in.

I was kind of sleepy, and forgot to scale up the other components to match 120g of cactus powder. This probably has something to do with it. I'm about to add another 20% of everything else to the sludge, mix it and leave it overnight - in the meantime, has anyone else experienced this / got any tips? I don't want to add any more water...
 
ah, I'm a fool, I can just filter through muslin or coffee filters right, squeeze the material dry and then separate the solvent layers, recombine the cactus and the base solution for the next pull..?
 
Boiling over with excitement right now. Can't wait to test this stuff out (first extraction ever!). I have never taken mescaline. :shock: :lol: :d :) :lol: :lol: :d :shock: :shock: 😉

yeah, awesome tek isn't it? got my 3% target from the first limonene pull, everything else is gravy. Still waiting till tomorrow to test drive, mescaline virgin also, cant wait, I think me and mescaline are gonna be good friends.
