This is a good question. It was one I asked myself when I first began. While the break thru trip itself is a worthwhile endeavour my primary goal in experimenting with spice was to find something that I could gain from it permanently. I quit after myself and several others from the old community come to the conclusion that there were no long term benefits to utilization of DMT beyond the impact of the experience. It was only after a few years had past and I was able to look back on my logs and see the change that I had undergone psychologically and physically. My cognitive function had be fundamentally altered but I had essentially failed to see it because this did not happen during or immediately after my experiments but come on somewhat gradually after I recovered from my last trip. For longish term effects you could read my experience report titled mass of the phoenix prolly have to do a search for it. Before even thinking about it let me tell you right here and now what I done was stupid and pretty much suicidal. At the time I was a extreme person I had the view that if you wanted to go places and experience things no one had before you had to be willing to go to extremes farther than anyone else has ever been willing to go.

How SWIM discovered spice?
In SWIM's youth he had many questions about his challenging situation in life and about life in general... Eventually, his anguish brought him to spiritual literature which opened his deeply manipulated mind and taught him to trust in life, to let go (to a certain degree) and many more. Personal growth and exploration of his spirituality was SWIM's main reason and motivation to do spice. SWIM learnt that we are all connected, that the separation is just an illusion of the physical dimension. He heard that one can consume Ayahuasca to experience this connection with everything... About a year later SWIM has reached the right mind set and decided to extract spice and to try it. He does not regret it.

Who can experience spice?
In SWIM's opinion everyone can do spice, but only those who have the right mind set will get the most out of the experience. For instance, if a person is not opened to the idea that there are other dimensions beyond our universe, that our bodies are not the only part of our beings, he will not be able to integrate the spice experience properly; he will tend to forget it completely or think of it like a hallucination produced by his own mind having no relevance to the real world.

Insights from spice experiences
Taking spice in right mind set is like the red pill, it is a ticket to spiritual revelation with point of no return. Many things SWIM has learnt from spiritual books he accepted in his world. Still, he had a thought of doubt that all that could be just theory helping people to cope with life but having no relevance to the actual reality. Spice experiences have completely destroyed these doubts.

SWIM experienced himself outside of his body. In that state he was feeling with no doubt that he is not his body but is using his body including the brain to experience the physical dimension. He witnessed his body being a complex highly automated biological hardware. He witnessed his eyes seeing, his body balancing, and his brain thinking. He reported this profound experience in another topic here: TR: being "outside" of the body, you feel like a "tree" :-) - Welcome discussion - Welcome to the DMT-Nexus

SWIM is working on recognizing and disempowering his ego for a while already. He got additional inspiration in the movie "Revolver". SWIM watched a trip report by Joe Rogan on YouTube where Joe told that the spice experience can free a person from his ego. Now SWIM is becoming conscious of the effects of the spice and his other contemplations on this topic. SWIM tends to judge people less and less, especially by their outer appearance. He found a very interesting analogy to describe his new perception of other people. If you watch "Star Wars" you see a plenty of alien beings, most of them having common features of a humanoid like face with eyes and mouth, and arms and legs. Notice your perception of these creatures. You are not conditioned to judge them by their appearance or even actions. You just watch them with interest and curiosity. SWIM experiences the very same feeling towards other people who he is encounters. This is the state where the saying "clothes make people" cease to be valid.

More great realizations came after the SWIMs first trip in a world outside of our dimension. Read the aftermath here:

The simplest result of working with spice is this deeply felt confirmation that there is much more going on in our universe than what we percieve. Spice allows you to see it and feel it with your own senses. This experience can have a profound effect on how you view everything around you.
It is quite possible that DMT does nothing to actually change the fabric of our minds. Perhaps its the ripple of effect of the knowledge that it brings that causes the profound shifts in perception. It seems to set in motion a quantum shift in how we view the world around us.

I am recently of the opinion that the DMT universe is actually a consciousness that we are connecting with. I postulate that the planet earth is an organism that has a mind and a consciousness. It is this dynamic all seeing all knowing all nothing all everything mind that we connect with during a DMT journey.

So far, even counting the hard trips it seems to have a positive result in my overall being. I begin to loose count of the positive effects its had on my life. I seem to have a more deeply felt understanding of priorities in my life. Things don't get to me like they used to. I recognize and see love everywhere. My low mood swings are shorter and occur much less frequently. I seem to be more in the moment of every day.

Ayahuasca definitely effects change upon the taker...

After my latest aya analogue experience, I became a singularly more confident and emotionally independent person. There was one point where I saw myself curled in a fetal position shaking, and deep down I knew that this was not the person I wanted to be. So then I straightened out and broadened my shoulders, and after that I've been distinctly more confident and aware, even though I didn't consider myself particularly insecure before.

Besides just feeling more confident, the more incapacitating pain coming from a handful of emotional attachments disappeared. The love of the attachment is still there, but it's no longer accompanied by the semi-crippling void.

DMT helps put everything in perspective... of course you might be less scared of physical experiences, because it shows how non-serious existence on the current plane is. Krishna talks about it a little in the Bhagavad Gita, that the world is simply sense-objects acting upon the senses.

Cool thanks for the replies.keep them coming ,i think this topic is very interesting .It might even help point out certain things to people who think drugs are bad and would say your hulucinating, these people just dont see the whole story or just arnt ment to maybe there not ready for what is.
