Please help

Hello nexus ... I did an A/B tek on 200grams of mimosa.. The first pull was great about 1gram of pure white spice
There was no hot bath involved .. Then I went away for 4 days and came back and did a second pull still with no heat .
The lighter fluid was a dark red to brown colour .
I decided to wash with sodium carbonate and water ... This is where I got into trouble .
It seems to have only give me a really small amount of lighter fluid back witch I did get a little bit more spice from .
But the rest is just a cloudy milky colour with no seperation .. And now after some time there is all yellow gunk floating on top on the solution ..
Hopefully I can get a pic uploaded now ..
Any answers will be greatly appreciated

I think you got all plant oils and stuff in your naphtha could have even made some soap. This may be causing emulsions.

Did you shake it a lot before loosing the NPS?
Things I would recommend trying to retrieve NPS

Gentle agitation

Hot water bath

Freeze/Thaw followed by hot water bath

Sodium hydroxide

More water

Time

All if these could work.

When the layers do separate which they eventually will I would be tempted to do a pull with fresh NPS just incase any spice has been trapped in the polar solution.

I've had this problem too, not sure what causes it. Possibly some unconverted sodium bicarbonate. The easiest fix is to simply add some distilled vinegar and mix it up till you have a uniform solution, then add plenty of water and sodium hydroxide and do pulls again as if it were another extraction. Same principle as a mini A/B. I recommend a mini A/B over sodium carbonate washes, personally.

Thanks for the info people ... Think I'm going to go with the mini a/b extraction and hopefully sort this mess out !
