is steel scrubbing mesh ok to be used in the storage area of the machine rather than copper wire?

*this is not steel wool it does not burn and i have cleaned any potential chemicals off of it

Yep! FOR SURE!

As long as it's not wire wool (a 9volt battery will light wire wool).

i also found some copper mesh, which of the two is better? neither catch on fire as i have already burned them to get the excess chemicals off them

Oooooo! You got me there. Mine is not copper. I s'pose the one that is most heat susceptible is the least best candidate. (And I would say that is copper...though I am not a qualified metallurgist) :?
