Salvia Extraction - a few questions

I've read of a few ways of extracting salvia many of which include using naptha to wash the extract.

I'm wondering, does anyone think xylene would work instead of naptha to remove the gunk without
affecting the yield?

Reason being, xylene is a tiny bit cheaper around here.
I'm going to be selling this salvia extract online (it IS legal here) so I'm trying to get maximum profit.

Also, is there a way to somewhat clean naptha/xylene so that it can be reused for washing extracts?.
One last ... Anyone ever hear of freeze-precipitating salvia extracts?

I haven't been able to find suitable answers to these questions ANYWHERE :(
 
There is all kinds of information on salvia extractions on the web , some over six years old , it isn't anything new , but in answering your question , yes and yes and yes for xtals .
 
I suppose I didn't mean "new" really... Just finding alternate extractions methods seems to be quite difficult. Really, I don't know why I said new considering I've been buying salvia for years :). As far as all of this information, dmt-nexus is usually my last resort so IDK how I missed it. Thanks for the reply.

Any chance you could elaborate on your answers or provide links?
 
As far as freezing...swim isn't sure...since Salvinorin A is usually extracted with 0 degree acetone. Would be interesting to see it worked with methanol though.

Also not sure about naphtha vs. Xylene...sorry.

Simply put, If you're making 5x, yes.
I'll long story short this for ya. You an find alot more at erowid or by searching google.

1. Take 5 grams (powdering is not needed contrary to what people say).
2. Soak 4g of it in the everclear for about an hour or two. You can soak longer of course though.
3. Pour off everclear.
4. Repeat steps 2-3 then discard the 4g.
5. Place the other 1g in the saturated everclear.
6. Let everclear evaporate

You now have 1g of 5x extract.

If you're trying to make something more potent than 5x, defatting is required.
To defat people normally use naptha.
Also, acetone works ALOT better than everclear or most other products...
If you search erowid or google you'll find plenty of info on a more thorough process.

Unfortunately I see no possible way to do a d-limonene only extraction...
Also, people give d-limonene too much credit. Yes it's "safer" but remember the saying
"just because it's natural doesn't mean it's safe."
I say this because it can also be toxic though, at higher amounts vs other chemicals used for extractions.

I've seen people (even on this site ...) refer to d-limonene as "non-toxic."
This is not the case and I think people should do a little more research on what they're using
before trusting the first thing they read.
