I have no personal experience with Acacia confusa but I don't think it is any more or less 'unforgiving' than any of the other main dmt-containing plants people have been taking.
Considering caapi is the main ayahuasca plant, traditionally, I guess you can just call it ayahuasca, even though acacia confusa is not traditionally used. You could also call it 'ayahuasca analogue' if you prefer. Either way it's not so important.
As for the dosage, definitely read up on it. Check the FAQ and related links on dosage etc. For the sake of simplification, I would consider Acacia confusa to be of an equivalent potency to mimosa hostilis and not take more than 3g for the first experience. In fact as I always recommend, I'd rather first find the right dosage for the specific caapi batch you have by consuming it by itself first, starting at 20-40g, and seeing how it feels. That is usually not a strong amount but if for some reason you have very strong caapi (happened to me before), it is better to play safe and start at lower amounts.
The ideal is to take an ammount of caapi that you can feel in terms of certain light-headedness and light sensitivity, maybe light tracers, but not too much that you get overwhelming loss of coordination/balance, light fobia, extreme nausea, etc. If you don't get enough, then wait for next day before consuming again.
Once you find that dosage, then next time you can add the DMT containing plant.
Good luck
