Temporary Equipment Storage

Migrated topic.

Hello,
SWIM's mother is visiting his living space for the forseeable future (hopefully less than a month, but who knows) and he feels he should get his equipment out of there.

He doesn't have much, a sepearatory funnel, funnel, some jars and quite a bit of solvents etc. It fills about two of those big bins they sell for storage.

SWIM lives in a 2 room apartment and just doesn't like the idea of her eyes intentionally or unintentionally stumbling upon the contents of these bins. He trusts her not to invade his privacy, but sometimes accidents happen. Although all items are legal, it is hard to explain why I have naptha, xylene, mason jars, and chemistry equipment (maybe if I was a chemist).

He doesn't like the idea of moving them to friends places simply because it arises suspicions. His friends know he uses psychedelics, but he tells them he has a good dealer :D.

Is self-storage an option?
SWIM lives in the pacific northwest and glassware isn't illegal here. He thought that he could rent a 5x5 storage unit and store these boxes and maybe a shitty couch in it? He would store his 1lb of MHRB and his tiny bit of cacti at home (Easy to hide).

What do others think about this idea? Perhaps others have better ideas?

Thanks!

I grew up in a two bedroom condowith my two parents and shared a room with my brother. I was quite successful at hiding stuff in my condo over my 18 years of permanent residence there. You should have no problem hiding the stuff you have inside your apartment. There is no reason to take this stuff out of your house and risk arousing someone else's suspicion.

Mason jars are not suspicious if she asks why you have them (and i'd seriously doubt she would) you can tell her for storing numerous food items (fruit, veggies, anything youd "normally" just keep in plastic tupperware) or as cheap drinking glasses or something along those lines.

Box up your sep funnel, put it in the back corner of your clothes closet...somewhere she has no reason to be rooting around whatsoever...if it'll fit put it in the back of your largest clothes drawer and cover it...you get the point.

If the funnel you listed after sep funnel is a regular funnel...who cares? keep it in the kitchen drawers, thats where a funnel belongs, no? if it's some other lab funnel, do the same thing as with the sep funnel.

As for your solvents, again box em up and shove them in the back of a closet where shes not gonna be going. Make sure the box is sealed, she's not gonna be rooting through sealed boxes in the back of your closet is she???!? These solvents are not sketchy unless found with other paraphernalia...look at the stuff you have, come up with plausible uses and you should be fine.

It seems to me that youre getting paranoid for no good reason. While it is always advisable to use extreme caution, you have almost no actual lab materials and these non-lab items only become sketchy in the presence of each other. Break it down, break it up, seal it, and store it. I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. You'll definitely be fucked if they find those two bins in a storage unit, whereas you really seem to have nothing to worry about in your home situation.

Hope my suggestions give you some ideas...i hid weed, alcohol, bongs and condoms in my apartment and never got busted by my folks who arguably had the right to be snooping through their house when i was that age...I think you'll be fine, just remember what these objects look like/represent to you is gonna be very different from how a civillian associates with them.

Thanks for the voice of reason. I shall do that.

The best way to hide things is to have them in the open but with a good explanation of why they are there.

For example, if you need to have strange looking equipment around and peculiar plant matter; take up the
time-honoured hobby of brewing beer and hide your glassware with your brew kit, your hops in a storage box with your bud.

Want to grow psilocybes, start of with shitakes and oysters. Your visitors will get use to the sight of your hobby equipment.

Need solvents, buy a plain wooden piece of furniture and some paint, varnish and solvent and you're all set.

All the equipment that you need for your entheo-hobby have legitimate uses in other activities.

Hobbies are fun, people without hobbies are boring.

Best regards, OF

On that note, Can anyone think of any fun, legal liquid-liquid extractions?
