The High Diet

Migrated topic.
I am finding that when shopping, if I am open and sensitive enough, I can feel and sometimes see very clearly a kind of energy coming from each individual fresh produce

and I've been kind of going around the Bazar touching everything in a kind of wide eyed trance and picking stuff, only things that feel exceptionally electric

and I've noticed it's been so much easier to feel satiated and hydrated and energized and regulated, of course I realize this is only possible in regions that have a cultural affinity for growing local fresh foods that are picked in the mornings that they bring them to be sold

I guess if you wanted to do it with less access to such things, growing microgreens and fully grown out sprouts could help with continuing on a purely living foods diet, though I would try to go about it in the least time consuming and effort intensive way

I wish somehow this was widely associated with psychedelics in the worldwide perception of things, or maybe also with meditation, and also psychological / physiological disorders

A few discoveries

When you look at what most fruitarian people eat on a regular basis, it's usually either all semi-sweet to sweet fruit meals, or there is some kind of salad with avocado / nuts, sometimes it's a few mixed fruit meals that also have nuts in it, all in all having tried many variations of this, I think there are a few things to be said

I don't think food is supposed to slow down and accumulate in the colon, which is what happens if you were to purely eat botanical fruits, even if it's something like citrus juice or melons etc, once digested the colon will not let it go because of course it's prolonging the time it has in hopes of extracting something missing from the fruits

This I've noticed is only complimented by dark leafy greens and herbs, specially once you feel the colon is becoming compacted slowly which usually takes about 36-48 hours after each dark leafy green meal, my experience has been that consistently causes the rapid emptying of most of the content of the Digestive tract a few hours after consumption

I assume the less prolonged fermentation occurs inside the colon the less bioactive monoamines are produced, leading to extremely improved mood and neurological equilibrium

I've noticed my Digestive system goes through several phases

the liquid phase is usually characterized by drinking hot beverages or sour / astringent whole juicy fruits or fruit juices improving and prolonging the overall state im experiencing, usually upon waking up at sunrise (this is also when being exposed to the morning sunlight and breathing has the most groundbreaking transformative effect which is as fundamental as the most basic needs of the body like hydration and food etc)

The Soft fruit phase is characterized by a increased desire for soothing solids, basically whole fruits like ripe bananas, peaches plums, apples, ... anything with soothing soluble fibers, this phase is not as suited as the liquid phase to high responsiveness/readiness situations, it's best for a calmer time of the day at noon, maybe social or researching or ...

The green phase is characterized as a feeling of slow accumulation of mass in the colon and the beginning of feelings of heaviness, where by a green salad of various herbs and greens (parsley, cilantro, basil, savory, radishes...) diced very finely as the main Ingredient with added bell peppers, hot pepper or black pepper, cucumbers, tomatoes, lemon juice, various spices and a touch of olive oil (or cold pressed flax oil or blackseed oil etc) or a piece of avacado (any fresh fatty fruit) can create a feeling of deep and prolonged satiation and more while at the same time rapidly emptying most of the content of the Digestive tract to maintain a feeling of lightness and ease of breathing , and is most suited to begin the rest and recovery phase of the day at sunset

I also like to wash down whatever may be left of the previous meal with a cup or two of hot water or herbal teas etc 1 hour before the next meal as to keep each meal completely separated

This has been a much more balanced and in sync cycle for me , and I think without these different cycles it's much easier to become dysregulated, maybe not as bad as most conventional ways of eating but certainly observable and suffer able

Espurrr, I found out recently that I really love dried Goji Berries. Dried Goji Berries & Sunflower Seeds have been on the menu. Though I must pace myself as they are expensive.

My diet has been pretty similar to this for over 15 years now. It was tricky to maintain weight at first but that got easier. My partner is a good cook, so I have been eating a bit of cooked plant food here and there the last few years. It definitely doesn't feel as good as raw foods but not bad in moderation

although delicious, that would give me major and multiple day constipation, more so due to the sunflower seeds but dried fruits dont seem to digest as smoothly either

I wonder if you’ve noticed things that seem important?

OK, couple things

I guess you can't really avoid something like, green banana, figs, dates, baobab fruits, also I guess you really can't avoid some source of inulin like tiger nuts, chicory roots, dandelion roots, burdock roots, and also I guess you really can't avoid Acacia gum either

Now these are the kind of additions that help with providing the kind of fibers and resistant starch for your colons microbes to create short chain fatty acids, without having to start cooking grains and tubers and some legumes

But practically this whole idea of farming and these foundational crops of civilizations which are usually various tubers and grains and bulbs and fruits

Is that all of these when cooked and cooled and combined together create a mixture of resistant starches and soluble fibers and polyphenol and... that ramp up the regeneration of the gut lining, allow for lower vagus nerve dysregulation, and you can eat large amounts of them and be sure you're gonna poop it all later due to this symbiotic relationship with the gut microbes

Generally, the proteolytic fermentation of proteins in the colon, and prolonged by constipation or let's say the longer proteins stay in your colon, raises Mao levels to break down the bioactive monoamines that are the result of this protein fermentation, your colon holds onto food if it doesn't contain these rapidly fermentable resistant starches and soluble fibers to create some short chain fatty acids from whatever it's got

so even if you lower your total protein intake and don't eat These gut microbe foods that cause bowel movements you are gonna lose your precious neurotransmitters which are mostly all mono amine because proteins are fermenting in your gut and your body has to produce more mono amine oxidase to prevent histamine and tyramine etc from causing serious issues and threatening your survival

Another interesting aspect of this is a considerable percentage of your calories can come from the short chain fatty acids your colon ferments from rs1 rs2 rs3 resistant starches and inulin and oligosacharides and pectins and musilage... soluble fibers and ...., up to 35% of your calories

Butyrate is converted to ketones, OK

To recap, cooked and cooled whole grains and tubers + high inulin roots and bulbs + Acacia gum + fruits like figs, baobab, dates, green bananas, and foods high in pigments and polyphenol to a lesser extent, are really important discoveries in human evolution because they allow for a higher baseline of neurotransmitters

It would do that to me also, but that’s due to IBD that presents as chronic constipation anyway and dried nuts/seeds make it worse. I don’t think this is a normal response though. Most people are fine eating dry nuts and seeds. Do you have a history of digestive illnesses?

There are several main types of Digestive systems usually with different geographies, I think people who eat with their microbiomes as the main focus, like I mentioned several categories cooked and cooled whole grains/legumes and tubers , some soft fleshed fruits and high inulin bulbs like onions and garlic for example, and have a lot of different spices and fermented foods in their daily diet, are capable of maintaining a strong barrier between their gut and blood, and sort of digest most of their food through gut fermentation and kind of push everything out when they are done with it, this would not be the case with many tropical or people in the cold regions who eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and people who consume animal products as their staple, I think these two groups are much more prone to Digestive mismatch and issues and have a limited range of safe foods in comparison to populations that eat mainly to feed gut microbes

"Isn't the land, pouring water from its heart, blessed by God? What else would you need, oh man on the clouds" a suitable opening

I have been drinking some mineralized water relatively high in magnesium bicarbonate at around 2L / day

whatever this is, it's very significant, usually the fasting window especially when diluting the minerals by drinking some reverse osmosis water or most minimally mineralized waters become increasingly stressful and sympathetic and dysregulating

but with this magnesium rich bicarbonate water the fasting window becomes increasingly relaxing and nourishing to the nervous system while the body continues to rest and recover, this allows for a continuous improvement over the long passing of days (some added mineral salt may also help with buffering the kidney filtration rate and prevent water loss even further, but not too much)

Anything that can promote a kind of detachment through meeting a need so deeply that it does not resurface for longer and longer each time is significant to humanness, because all human things emerge out of freedom

Drinkin RO- or rainwater is pretty daft, especially without any other mineral sources as with fasting. It's literally stripping minerals from one's body.

I'm glad you've worked this one out - consumption of demineralised, deionised, distilled, or reverse osmosed water was always recommended against by health agencies and public water suppliers, and I can say that with insider knowledge.

Interestingly when you begin to eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables in general you are eating most of your water and this seems to fix something, but the issue is the near constant sense of being wired neurologically even tho with very low total fat intake that can be alleviated to a certain extent, with the addition of some salt it can be alleviated even more, but nothing has a powerful impact as adding large portions of dark leafy greens to your daily intake, that not only brings the nervous system to a deep and stable homeostasis but also naturally removes this kind of constant ongoing desire and chasing after to find something to finally let you relax and be able to breathe and let your worry and fear go, but this intensely mineralized dark leafy green intake can dry out your colon by pushing so much water into the blood stream which is why you are being nourished and regulated so deeply and drying out of the colon means you need at least a small amount of free oil to lubricate the Digestive canal and prevent blockages, and to be able to maintain a higher baseline of neurotransmitters some thing like raw edamame or green peas seem to work quite well , as you may have noticed it's like coming full circle from different modes of eating and their unique effects into a increasingly more delicate balance which contains a wider array of possibilities within it but gets progressively more slippery to keep in balance , bit more risk and bit more reward or bit more pain, just an informative and educational feedback loop to bootstrap previously unavailable Intelligence, I wish I could lay it out more clearly but I'm not quite there yet, tho in hindsight this experiment has spiraled out way past what I thought would be possible

Several things has changed in how I perceive the maintenance of the body, I feel like if I can find myself in internal silence, no activity from my mind, this intelligence which comes online when the nervous system is getting rid of food very effectively and remains largely empty, automatically guides me to feed it what it needs, and that can be a very complex meal or meals that contains so many ingredients in different ratios, maybe more than a 100 different plants are consumed in a day while the meals remain elegant and sensible to the palate, and it's very much like holding a conversation with your lover over the course of days and months without forgetfulness, the ingredients are the syntax of the biological communication, you get rid of the middle man which is your mind which insists that it knows things and open a direct line between your body and your awareness and it begins to excorsice the demons of terror from your amygdala and begin to terrorize your inner terrorist.

I don't know what the best diet is, but I do know that when I'm high (and sober), I really enjoy the combination of almonds and dried fruits (dates, figs, mangos, goldenberries, etc.). Needless to say, I can always go for a stack of pancakes, but I know where that path leads me, and do my best to stay clear of said temptation (a single pancake is one too many).

Well, you are always tripping, fresh fruits / berries / melons are the obvious choice of sustenance outside of meals, you can take them anywhere, eat them anytime, and they provide the best effects immediately without inhibiting you in anyway, but there comes a point in the day where you want to wind down and rest, and instead of nuking yourself you should observe what helps you relax without making you heavy and uncomfortable, contrary to popular belief ive found that to be dark leafy greens, meaning your best chance for a meal that helps you transition from the active part of your day into the passive, and recover, is likely always gonna be a salad with dark leafy greens like kale or spinach or chard or … massaged with salt and vinegar / lemon juice as an acid and some sort of free oil like olive oil, perrila oil, flax oil, blackseed oil, and topped with whatever you like, whole grains, beans and legumes, fermented vegetables, seaweeds, mushrooms and the like

Mmm I do like eating dino kale, both in salad form and pan fried with coconut oil. Your post gave me some new ideas to make my salads more interesting. In addition to kale, kalamata olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, bananas, blueberries, and raspberries are all staples of my diet, so I feel like I’m eating a good range of fruits and vegetables, but I’m sure there is still plenty of room for improvement, refinement, and expansion.

I’m curious by what you mean by “you are always tripping” - while I would like to have a consistent dmt/psilcybin/plant medicine practice (along with more consistent exercise, yoga, and meditation), the truth is that I struggle to find the time. I do vaporize cannabis, in mini doses, on a daily basis, along with consuming an assortment of medicinal herbs and mushrooms - most notably, ashwagandha, schisandra, reishi, suma, guayusa, tulsi, and mistletoe - however, while I would like to trip more often, the truth is that I am not actually always tripping, by a long shot.

Looking back on the past year, I’ve tripped once on cactus, once on rue/acacia, taken a few low doses of mushrooms, and smoked changa a few times, which doesn’t feel like a lot. I hope to change that in the coming year, along with continuing to improve my diet, getting more exercise, and expanding my practice of yoga and meditation.

Not sure if it'd be of any help to yourself since you are much more knowledgeable than me on this topic. But the main thing I'd say is many people on vegan plant diets seem to not make sure they are getting the obvious stuff taken care of such as a good omega 3/6 ratio, missing some main nutrients and minerals, and not eating enough food to maintain weight in general. But once things are well balanced it does seem to work pretty well for a lot of people but YMMV. I think at one time in the past our bodies were much more capable of assimilating plant nutrients whereas these days individual differences are going to make things much more complicated at times.

I've found such a diet to be amazingly beneficial both mentally and physically but teasing apart how much of my current state is due to diet or all the medicine work is kind of tricky. Lately I've been adding some quinoa and lentils in my salads which has been nice and helped me save money and maintain weight easier.
