The official Ron Paul thread

Migrated topic.
well, Ive already said that the things he wants to do need to be voted on, where we differ is that you already know how the voting will go and I think it should be voted on first before determining the outcome.

Ray, that's not how our system works. The President has veto power when a bill lands on his desk, but does not bring his own bills to congress.

Powers of the President of the United States

My frustration comes in that you seem to think Ron Paul can change the world if he were president when the president has limited power - for good reason. I'm sorry to say, the United States has much bigger problems than the President alone can fix.

I don't believe this system can be fixed. It's damaged beyond repair. It will collapse. There will be chaos and anarchy. And I'm just curious what will emerge out of that.

Unless you want to go into specific issues, can we give the Ron Paul rhetoric a break? Please?

Im not saying Ron Paul can fix the world, I just think hes the best person running. Thats all. The reason I think so is because hes anti establishment and will put real issues on the table. After reading through the link you posted about presidential powers I really believe that Ron Paul would be able to make some positive changes.

Ron Paul would pardon all people in jail for drug possession. Great idea!

Ron Paul would be responsible for preparing the Budget of the United States.

It seems like everything I'm reading right now says that a president has the ability to withdraw troops.

He could veto bad bills.

I really do believe that he would be able to do some stuff that could potentially really help.

thanks for the link.

A1pha i think you are underestimating how much power the president of the united states actually has.

For example you ask how the president could curtail the war on drugs. Is it not obvious? Who is it that appoints all of the leaders in the justice department and therefore in the DEA, FBI, and all the other federal law enforcement agencies? Who is it that proposes the budget for all those various agencies to Congress?

^ I think the drug issue would best be addressed by the DOJ - but nonetheless I understand the Powers of Appointment. The point I'm making is this country has been heading towards the ice berg for years now, and I wouldn't tust a radical republican from Texas at the helm.

I don't like his policy on stem cell research either and a few other things as well but imo those are all side issues, the real issues are getting back to sound money, and ending american aggression in the world.
tell that to the hundreds of thousands of paraplegic and quadriplegic's who have a cure right there in front of them but must live confined to a chair and miss out on the beauty of sexual intimacy because of bullshit christian values being forced down their throats.

my very good friend who i began base jumping with is now paralyzed from the chest down after a jumping acccident in Hawaii and is a prime candidate for stem cell therapy. he has slight sensation in one toe. he has the highest of probability's of being able to walk again but these gdamn Christians wont let that happen.

im sorry guys i don't usually go off on rants but this one hits too close to home for me. i love my buddy, his name is Jarrett Martin he is 21 years old and he is a huge inspiration to me and the world. i cant express the amount of frustration and rage i have against these christian groups and there bullshit values keeping my friend confined to a wheel chair. for what? why? because some cells from donated embryo's would rather be destroyed by conservatives instead of used to cure a list of ailments and human suffering. these people make me sick to my stomach and i would never ever ever support anyone who would stand by and let this happen. how dare they!

i know i said i wouldn't chime in again but i had to get that off my chest. it hurts me every day when i see Jarrett, i see how talented of a young man he is and i know how its killing him a person that knows the freedom of human flight to be stuck in a chair because of other peoples dogmatic religious views.

now imagine how Jarrett must feel.

I just dont get how someone out there can justify being against stem cell research. If Ron Paul is agaisnt that than he is a retard in my opinion reguardless of what else he says. He does say alot of nice things I agree but when I here some of these other things it makes me do a full 180 and wonder where they the guy left his brains. Saying SOME nice things is not good enough to impress me personally. I want someone with some brains.

I feel ya Olympus Mon , My uncle steve is paralized from the waist down , I just had to buy him a new wheelchair..... car accident.

So it hits even closer to home for me, he was gonna be coming to stay with me for a couple weeks so I could dose him under my supervision this summer but cant because my house wouldn't allow for him to do what he needs to do as a parapaligic, bathrooms, stairs ect.

Its too bad its gotta be that way but I still think that its not as big of a horror as whats happened to the iraqi people or anyone else that is getting attacked by the usa right now, especially with the depleted uranium rounds causing god knows what for god knows how long.

im sorry about your uncle ray, its such a hard thing to watch and these beautiful people are so much stronger than you and i. my heart hurts on this topic.

yes the slaughter of millions of Iraqi's and afgani's may be more horrific but how can you vote for a man that pushes his religious views on these beloved chair bound people when the cure is right there ready to go. i just dont get it brother, How!!?

"it's a theory of evolution, and I don't accept it"

2011 and a presidential candidate still doubts evolution?

Ron Paul: Revolution minus Evolution is Just R(etarded)

[youtube]

Olympus Mon - I am truly sorry for your friend Jarrett. If he ever needs anything wheelchair related, please let me know.

I dont think its right, at the moment I'm listening to him speak on the topic because I dont understand how any rational person could be against stem cell research..

at the same time though anyone that votes for any other candidate is voting for US hostility and war witch to me would be way worse, I dunno how anyone could ever vote for wars of agression.

As Ron paul says in the end of that video a1pha, no one really knows what the truth is.

Ron paul speaks on stem cell research, a very wise and thought out position, Ron paul never ceases to amaze me.

RAY-
wowzers!!!! he doesn't accept the theory of evolution. RAY!!!! seriously.... you really want a guy that isnt open minded enough to even suppose the possibility of evolution?!!!! brother please take all this in and re-think your choice. i mean even Obama said he would get the troops out and nada! why do you think Ron Paul would be any different the guy denies science for Christ's sake and the bible itself doesnt even contradict evolution!!! my god dude this guy is a religious zipper head zealot! i mean seriously the man with the power of the presidency that believes in talking snakes and the rapture!!!! this is your man?!!

bro he is the same as the rest of these clowns. im sorry no way in hell id get behind a man that is so naive that he deny's our physical laws and science. a man that believes the planet is 30,000 years old and dinosaurs walked the earth with humans.

please tell me your not behind this guy because of a few good stated intentions. i just cant get my brain around that. i have the utmost respect for you and your mind but i dont understand how you can look past these things just because of some empty goals that he is unlikely to be able to achieve in the first place!!!

a1pha- thank you so much for your kind offer. i love you brother, i let you know.

well he said at the end of the clip that hes not sure about the beginning of it all, he doesn't pretend to know how humans got here and evolution doesn't explain us.... I don't believe we evolved from apes either but like Ron paul says , no one really knows

I think when hes rejecting the theory of evolution hes rejecting the idea we came from monkeys, not the fact that things evolve, no one can deny that things evolve.
I personally don't believe we came from monkeys either.

I don't think just because he rejects the idea that humans came from monkeys he belives the earth is 30,000 years old or any of that other bible crap. I sure as hell don't believe that.

Ps thanks for respecting my thought process man I respect yours too and this conversation stays in this thread and has no bearing on what I think of you as a person. Its just politics in one thread :)

absolutely. your still my brother whether we agree or disagree. 😉

I'm voting for Ron Paul in 2012, even if he doesn't win the Republican vote, I'll write him in.

If he doesn't win the election, then I'll probably look into voting for Rand Paul in 2016, that is to say if things haven't completly gone to shit by then and we are still having and election that year.

A1pha, why would you pick such a trivial reason for not voting for a canidate.

In that video Ron Paul does say that he doesn't accept evolution as theory. He doesn't seem to say anything about the facts of evolution, as evolution is indeed a fact and theory.(There are particular facts that support evidence for evolution, yet it is still a theory as to what the exact mechanisms and causes for evolution are.)

He then goes on to explain that he believes there is a creator and it is not important for him in his life to understanding exactly when and how we were created.

I may be just speculating here but it sounds more like he was trying to keep a neutral position while trying to answer a potentially biased question as not to dissuade potential Christian votes.

I say, well played Ron Paul.

Even if he doesn't believe in evolution, What in the Hell does that have to do with his campaign?

You seemed to be calling out Ray so often about proving how Ron Paul is going to execute these "promises" and you so often tell Ray to post something better than a youtube video.

I must say up untill now, you've been doing a good job at holding your position and presenting valuable sources to this thread. But now you go and contradict yourself by doing the very thing you've been calling Ray out for and posting this video, a weak video at that, and it's about something completly irrelevant to what Ron Paul is running for anyway?

You had me going for a little while but you lost me with that one.

Just because the man has a certain belief, however ignorant it may be, he still seems to be one of the only candiates that is defending the constitution, and it's apparent to me that he has a better understanding of economics and the constitution than any of the other running canidates.

I think it's worth a try voting for him.

If you're not voting for him then for who, and why?

If you're not voting at all, then why are you even trying to argue against Ron Paul?

What are you trying to prove by that?

Just sayin. Peace!
