I was curious to see how many of you believe that the soul is "real".

Please vote yes or no for *which side you lean towards*

If you think maybe there is but I think there isn't, then vote no, etc.

The soul is an ambiguous term that can be used many ways. For the sheer sake of simplicity I chose yes. There is, however, the problem of what is the soul, and where does the soul come from. I like to believe that whatever it is, it is a projection of our bodies, which I see as engines of sorts. The whole universe reality thing that we perceive appears to be engine-like in a way, powering something that's blooming into existence in another layer of this strange experimental space.

The soul is the collective spirit of all there is, teaching us its awareness and ours.

I'm referring to something that doesn't die after death. Like our soul may move on.. and can never be broken.

In my current reality tunnel, the soul exists, but ceases to be projected when the body dies.

This does not negate the possibility of [what would appear to be from the observers stance] eternal time dilation. 😁

So true house! You were the one that introduced me to that concept, that maybe the brain can dilate time to eternity at the moment of death.

Food for thought for sure..

This is exactly why I want to learn how to Astral Project (if its true) naturally.

Interesting story that made me question things.
I have had a coworker claim to do it back in 1993. Then I was working in a Factory many of them foreigners who didn't understand English. This girl I was chatting up (she was kinda cute), I thought I would tell her something fascinating about what at the time I was learning about Wiccan Witches Cradle to astral project. She had no idea what I was talking about. Since she didn't know the language well I said "Soul Leave Body". She got excited and said she does this when she meditates after yoga. I was like "GTFO, NO WAY" She said she will visit me tonight.

That night, I forgot about this, partied with my friends and went home to sleep. Around 3AM my cat who is very gentle started hissing and freaking out in my bed. I woke up comforted the cat looked at the clock and went back to bed.

That morning when I went to work she came walking up to me very excited. She said "Dream about me last night?!", I said no, why would I? Oh that's right astral projection. "What time did you visit?" She said "3AM". ... (WTF is this a coincidence?) I said "Were you in my room?" she said "Yes, you have a big red dragon poster above your bed, you have another poster above your desk with guys on it said metal something, lots of books...etc." WTF I did have a red dragon AD&D poster, I had a drawing desk with a Metallica poster above it and my entire wall is filled with art books... and my cat freeking out at 3AM.

OK this is some weird shit and although it could have been a grand 100% coincidence, it sure as hell opened me up to the possibility that is real! If one can leave there body then I would assume there is a Soul. 😁

Any one personally have and Soul Travel experience they verified? I really really want to learn do this if it is true.

Dude it is very real haha, and that story you told is proof (in my eyes).

Yes I have done it to but not on her level, but I have left my body into my room for a little bit and floated over to my mirror to look myself face to face with my body behind me in my bed. 😁

Sleep paralysis can lead to many strange things.

I feel it more the other way around... like the body being more of a projection of consciousness. I see consciousness as the source of matter, rather than the result of matter..

a great mystery indeed

I do believe there is some type of energy inside us in our core that is from another plain, and this energy is the one common link between life and the source

If you're gonna have a not sure option, can you edit this OP so it doesn't bias the "not sures" towards "no"? I don't see why if you think maybe there is while simultaneously thinking maybe there isn't should vote "no".

The soul is made up by the human consciousness in order to explain fundemental things beyond its comprehension, like death. Or to justify his belief in some kind of afterlife, because he is unable to accept his non-existance after death.

But thats just how i see it.

Vote no, if i knew how 😉

Did you see a reflection of your floating self in the mirror of the reflection of your body on your bed? When you moved around was it based on thought/intention of an action? I know this has been talked about many times but I am interested in learning if DMT/ and Astral Projection are doing or at least interfacing into the outer consciousness system. This guys videos seem to be share that they may indeed be: multidimensionalman

Proof is one of those tricky things for me. Until I experience it first hand there is a little part of me that always questions. I have told others this true story and some very much believe it as a proof result, others say its just a coincidence being a very amazing guess. I then always ask what are the odds of all those coincidences stacking up like that? If it is Proof then wow cats can for sure be detectors of spiritual SPY's!

I believe this to be the case too or at least am very much coming to this conclusion. Since experiencing DMT it has only strengthen this thinking. That this is a Illusion/Simulation model of reality which conciseness being the computer/generator.

not in a soul but in the conscious mind. i think when we die out our conscious mind lives on however we lose part of who we are be cause our memories are left with our bodies. im believe consciousness can not just be created but it moves one from body to body living countless amazing lives. when u smoke dmt it takes us away from our bodies for a few minutes and this is who we truly are

The not sure is not biased towards no at all. I said if you were not sure but LEANING towards no then you should vote no. Then I put an etc, which I meant to show that if you're not sure but you lean towards yes than you should vote yes.

I've become fond of the Eastern texts such as the Bhagavad Gita" and the "Upanishads". Both are roughly around the time of 2000B.C. I started reading those texts after my experiences with DMT (just happened to stumble across them in the bookstore). The Gita and Upanishads touch on some main underlying themes that these mystics were consistently having throughout that time, and they DIRECTLY mirror the epiphanies and insights that i've had on my most profound oral experiences and smoked breakthroughs.

They refer to the soul as "Atman"; the individual slice of consciousness that inhabits each living being throughout it's life. But the "Atman" is identical with "Brahman"...which is the IT underlying all of phenomenal existence....call it "God" "consciousness" or whatever. They are both one n' the same at that subtle level.

It's striking how well that and everything else is described throughout those texts. I tend to go along the lines of eastern thinking in regards to the soul.

Saw my floating self and looked back to see my sleeping body.

disagree that this is the reason most people deal with the notion of a soul... from my own experience and many other's experience, this is far from the case. People simply coming up with the concept to make themselves feel more comfortable with their impending death is a fairly naive view in my opinion... I think it goes quite a bit deeper than that..

I was a strong atheist before some of my deep spiritual experiences.. and it was the experiences themselves, not me being scared of dying one day, that led me to see that my consciousness is bigger than my body..anyways, as you said, thats just your opinion, and I respect that.... but I don't think everyone who believes in soul should be lumped into this category of people simply trying to avoid the notion of death.... the soul is a much deeper than that

I tend to agree with bricklaya. It seems that the “soul” generates our physical existence. Not the other way around.

Here are some of my thoughts:

I’m not sure what the soul is, but I don’t feel it’s something inside of me or something subordinate to me: I am inside of it. Neither is the soul a puppeteer, controlling or interacting with the physical: It is the “experiencer” of the physical. It is not human consciousness, yet it is what makes humans conscious.

I don’t believe that we continue to exist after death, at least not as is generally imagined. But for the “experiencer”, there is no death and no life. There are simply “memories” of experiences.

The soul is the author and reader of its own book, and we are characters in that book.
