The Spice Melange

Just threw on the movie "Dune" and haven't seen it in over a decade (Prior to my familiarity with DMT). the introduction of the film talks about "the spice melange" the spice of life, the most precious substance in the universe.. that allows travel to any part of the universe without moving.. (facepalm).

I never put any research into the slang nomenclature of DMT, but whoever dubbed the term "spice" must have based it off of this movie. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But found this fantastic :d

Frank Herbert was an avid consumer of psilocybin mushrooms. The blue colour associated with the spice Melange is a direct allusion to the bruising of the mushrooms. DMT's popular nickname does indeed allude to the Dune reference, however.
