When I first heard about DMT I thought it was too intense for me. A few years later I started reading about it again and I was completely amazed. It's been an obsession for me for probably 6 months now. In the last month I've dreamed of eating mushrooms, smoking salvia, smoking DMT and ingesting ayahuasca. Since the dreams started, I've actually felt more comfortable with the fact that I haven't done it yet. Anyway, once you become hooked on the idea of trying DMT there isn't much you can do.

@amor_fati Thank you for that great quote. I was meaning to read Thus Spoke Zarathustra and now I'll probably pick it up as soon as possible. Also out of interest I would like to ask what connection did you see between what I wrote and the quote, because I've been thinking about it for a bit and I'm not sure what you meant.

This conversation culminated with a metaphor about a mountain that has no peak. Knowing that the mountain has no peak are you an idiot trying to climb it or are you a brave soul searching for more. Knowing there is no peak are you a wise man refusing to climb it or a coward fearing the unknown.

For some reason, this made me think of the bodhisattva, who promises not to leave the world of samsara until all suffering beings become free.

By taking this vow, the bodhisattva practically *guarantees* that he/she will never reach enlightenment. But still, with some transcendental inverse logic, this also feels like an assurance of enlightenment. It feels like some cosmic trick. (Sorry, it's very difficult to express what I have in mind.)

@cellux It kinda feels like a cop out. It's like in the Christian mythology you can either live a good life, which is long and hard, or you can sacrifice yourself to save another automatically guaranteeing you a place in heaven despite the life you lived.

What makes me angry is WHY in the name of God is the information presented as something real as something ''solid'' and makes me think that OMG this is all real,this places are real? Why? Why torture me with things like this for a week now if you can't make it your reality NOW,Why bother showing me this and pushing me to try if it remains out of reach,maybe until after death maybe until the next 1000000 fucking incarnations? Why confuse me,spin me around,knock me out with this incredibly realistic life,why put me into this world of everything,of absolutely everything that you can possibly imagine,in which you can die in 1 day after birth or fight and live for 80 or die in between and in which you are given a shitload of information that you if you try to put together it confuses you even further? Why if I've made my intentions clearer than it is possible,why is it continuing to torture me?...why is it offering me a glimpse and then trows me back in this?

Why do you feel this is something that "they/we/them" are doing to you? And why would you be "angry" about it?
Just get the shit together & extract some if you want to try it, if not WTF?

You are extremely lucky to have the internet at you disposal & most of the research already done for you!!
I read about DMT for the first time when I was 19...no internet back then (yes, we survived)...& it took me another 13 years of active researching & asking every true "head" that I met along the way, to learn about extracting from MHRB.
There was no forums to help with the info, or the head space after the first few full-on experiences that shake the foundations of what you thought you knew for so long. There were no vendors just a click away making the plants & chems needed easy to get. There were no trip reports so you could kind of have a bit of understanding of what is about to happen.

Just a few sparse tales of the pinnacle of the psychedelic experience that is was out there somewhere.
Truth be told, I'm glad I didn't learn how to extract sooner, I would not have been ready for it. I probably would have treated it as more of a party (which it is not at all!), or just not able to handle the experience mentally.

No I actually had to read, read, read for about 13 years to gain the knowledge I have gained...BTW I'm not talking about reading internet pages, I'm talking book stores & library's!!! Ever worked with the Dewey Decimal system?


So stop your bitching & start some reading!! You've got it easier then most did only 2-3 years ago!!!

it is good to read about this. sometimes i wish i wasnt privliged to live in this time where technology is booming so

rapidly and informations is so easily atainable. but i think the good people who created these things knew we need a

faster delivery of knowledge to the future generations so we could solve bigger problems.

thank you for all the research you have done over your years, it will help me in the present and future so i dont have

to go through the same trials. on a side note, think of how shitty it would be to have to re-learn which plants were

safe to eat and which were not, and which were enlightening. i think about this a lot. thank our ancestors for their

memories.

The problem with DMT is, that you see probably more then you want to know.
I have to watch every aspect of my behavior, because i feel so alienated.
I see what I say, I see how I act and I sometimes try to change it.
And say: STOP. This is not being me.
This is "something" else.
This whole game called life is regarded as one.
Is trying to be understood by me. Wants to be observed and lived at the same time. But the understanding gets even deeper than that. Life and dead are ultimately one and this truth can change everything.

I know that these lines have almost nothing to do with your "why why" questions.
But it sums up why I do DMT.
I want to be my real me, not the "me" of anybody else.
I want to have my own mind, my own life and decide the circumstances.

DMT is a helper, a tool, sometimes a curse because it can turn everything upside down, but I hope for the sake of my soul that it will help me find myself.

Ah and btw: "Truth please" from who do you want to hear the truth. Do you think anybody here can show you the truth? The truth is what the truth is for you. For any aspect of your life you have to decide for yourself, what is your ultimate truth. That's the secret to almost everything.

Exactly! If you want enlightenment, live in the present moment. Be conscious of this exact moment, and do not live in that voice in your head. Everyone should really read The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle, it is very easy to read and explains this in a great way.

Another thing to consider is... the Earth IS exactly wonderful, exactly as it is.

But, these strange chemicals, and giant primates with nervous systems capable of processing them in ways that result amazing are also part of this world... the mystery is inherent... inherently beautiful...

But it is only just a part.

For me, it makes me appreciate life that much more, when I can view on some cosmic/sub-atomic scale just how connected I truly am, to everything. Never have I cherished life so much.

I stumbled on this beautiful roller coaster of a thread and thought I would resurrect it.
Hopefully it touches some of you as strongly as it did me.

Nothing new to add really, just appreciation to express.

I was slightly like-minded. I didn't ever really regret my decision that sucked me into this obsession, but I did question it for sure; question whether or not I would want to accept it or not, but it has enhanced my life far more than it has pestered me. My biggest worry with DMT is that I just hope I don't get in any legal trouble. Other than that, I've got a pretty clean conscience and am enjoying my life much more than I had been thanks to the molecule, even though I may perceive things radically different than in my childish innocence (that most adults have too). You also need to try and integrate it into your life, other than just through thought and "obsession". Try writing a poem about it or an experience you had. Try drawing a picture, or writing a fantasy, or making music that you feel is any way influenced by it (if you happen to be a musician). These things can all help to subside that compulsive flame for the matter.
