Which psychedelic is the most likely to cause bad trips. This is not about which is KNOWN to cause bad trips, but which psychedelic actually does cause the most bad trips.

I don’t agree at all. While set and setting have something to do with it, LSD is by far the most likely to cause bad trips.
 
I was under the impression that "bad trips" only occur if you are not in the correct frame of mind and also have a lot to do with set and setting. The word Psychdelic literally means mind revealing, so a bad trip is just a manifestation that one has reservations about the whole thing in the first place. I would never take a psychedelic if i felt anxious about it. That being sid, im alway anxious before SWIM loads up a bowl of the elf dust : )
But when this happens SWIM just tells himself that all will be fine and that you should do something everyday that scares you haha.

I also thing the issue with acid is that it lasts so fuckin long, and in my oppinion thats the root of the bad trip i.e "whens this gonna end"

Haha, well i would, but im not well versed enough in the listed psychs to give a representative solution poll.
SWIM has only tried four of the ones you listed

Shrooms tend to show (at least for SWIM) you about yourself and your faults more than LSD, so shrooms can create a 'bad trip' more easily if one is not ready to see his own faults. Ayahuasca even more.

I have never smoked 5-MeO-DMT. I have taken it sublingually though. I think it could be scary stuff, although i quite enjoyed it. But LSD lasts for hours and hours, so once you'r having a bad trip the duration is a disadvantage in this perspective.

I wouldnt say that showing ones self his faults constitutes to a bad trip. It may be a litle uncomfortable, but it enlightening in the end

no, as I said, it depends on the person.. I mentioned specifically 'if one is not ready to see his own faults', then he could have a bad trip.. but others are able to see their own faults.. and as I also said, I dont consider these hard experiences as bad trips, because seeing one's own fault is actually very enlightening, even if momentarily hard
 
Well among the medical community, they see more people suffering from panic attacks from LSD use than any other drug. That should say something about its propensity to cause bad trips.
 
for SWIM mushrooms always have a higher chance of being uncomfortable or bad...lsd has always been awesome..granted intense and sometimes too intense...but mushrooms SWIM feels has more of a space for bad trips to happen...and SWIM has witnessed more bad trips from mushrooms than anything else..mostly in other people...SWIM has had the totally...uncomfortable cant feel good awful thought process from mushys
 
The poll is starting to get interesting.

Not everyone is the same. Some people are more prone to bad trips than others, and while LSD is known for causing bad trips (especially in the ER), others can also cause them. Even DMT can cause a panic attack in some people.

We'll see what the people on this forum think. I'd give the poll at least 1 week before calling any winners.

you still didnt address all the very important hidden variables I mentioned that may have to do with this, such as more people taking acid, more acid being taken in party situations, more 'noobs' taking acid and having no idea about it as opposed to natural psychedelics, etc etc etc etc Also who is the 'medical community' you talk about? You talk as if the whole medical community has a consensus and it proves your point, and this is a very misleading way of presenting your opinion

That must be because of the intensity of mushrooms. Nevertheless, LSD can cause your thoughts to race like a mad bull on steroïds, confronted with numerous amounts of cheerfully singing matadors. LSD is more demanding in that way.

That is hardly a bad trip. That’s enlightenment. People who’ve had bad trips on LSD know what I’m talking about. It is horrible. You feel like complete shit for several hours with nothing but negative emotions and negative thoughts that you just want the experience to end. It’s very difficult to shake out of it. It’s like a negative emotional loop that won’t stop. It’s usually triggered by a bad memory, bad environment, etc. It’s nothing at all like what mushrooms can do.

The other type of bad trip from LSD is the PANIC ATTACK. I’m sure we’ve all seen it in at least one friend.

Some people don’t get bad trips at all. SWIM’s brother never has bad trips ever. He’s somehow immune to it. He’s also not a very emotional person, so maybe that has something to do with it.
 
SWIM has never seen anybody have a BAD lsd trip...SWIM has seen bad mushroom trips...it was one of the most awful experiences hes ever had..and he wasnt the one having the bad trip! his buddy started having weird paranoid thoughts..and then stopped breathing..splashed some cold water on him got him breathing again and got him out of his hole he fell into(mind hole)...then we dragged him to the bathroom to get him to puke up any mushrooms that were still in his belly..had him chug water first to get some fluid in his belly...he started taking a shower(always calms SWIM down) and started crying hysterically..SWIM told him he was there for him and that everything was going to be ok..

the kid started screaming at SWIM..telling him he was going to kill SWIM if he didnt leave..he started yelling to himself...saying he was going to pull the fucking trigger..then his voice would shift..and he would start talking back to himself...and then start screaming at SWIM to "fucking leave or ill fucking kill you"

he lived in an apartment building and you could hear him screaming EVERYWHERE..this kid had a batch of mushrooms growing so SWIM was like.."i need to get the fuck out of here" he didnt want to be there if the cops showed up..and there wasnt anything he could do for his friend..BTW SWIM was tripping really hard as well..trying to deal with this...

so SWIM decided to leave..he got in his car and drove the few minutes back to his house..and prayed to god that his friend would make it through...his friend called him about 4 hours later telling him he was ok..

needless to say SWIM was extremely relieved..

the next day he went over to his friends house to see how he was doing..his friend had just about destroyed his bathroom..he had torn the shower curtain off..he had pulled the water pipes off the wall...and water had gotten everywhere..

SWIM asked him what happened..and his friend said he had been battling a dragon(his own demon) and he had realized some things about himself that he utterly hated..he also said he saw god and a whole bunch of other stuff...

obviously SWIM could have done some things differently..but when things happen like that..you just gotta go with it...

this trip scared SWIM more than anything ever has...didnt scare him away though:) he just learned a whoole lot about it
 
Although I've never done LSD, I wish I could, I totally agree that mushrooms have a great potential to cause bad trips since for me there isn't usually euphoria involved in the trip until I start coming down and realise that everything is going to be ok then its like the euphoria comes in tidal waves :).
