What is recent is that due to the new communication methods like the internet the news of these things happening are faster spreading and with this hype more cases are reported as usual.

i just wanted to mention, this is probably why people don't notice the world becoming a better place. The negative is much more prominent in news and media. And with the internet, we a;ways know what the worst of humanity does.
