If you leave a plant extract (like mimosa) to sit with NaOH for a few days or more, is it possible the DMT will degrade? Does anyone here have experience with this?
Based on the experiences of others shared on this forum, I would say you can leave the plant matter in a NaOH solution for a considerably long time without any issues whatsoever. I think some people even mentioned they had a basic solution sitting around for 2+ years and it was still perfectly fine, so don't worry.
Just one thing to keep in mind - make sure you depressurize the vessel properly as lye produces quite a bit of gasses that can cause a problem. But also don't leave the vessel open as you can knock it over and that would also create a significant issue.

some people have re-pulled from old basic bark years after the fact upon discovering new teks and collecting bad yield batches.
DMT might not degrade, but it will polymerize into different polymorphs, which can be a problem if your spice is from a source like acuminata that contains "stuff" that already makes it hard for crystals to form, and polymers make it 100x worse. Fortunately depolymerizing is as simple as using a strong-ish acid to form the salt then freebasing once again and extracting that. i.e just do a mini AB, with a different acid than what you originally pulled with as that helps exclude some wax/oil contaminants that wont react with the acid.
