amount of solvent? problem with noman tek...

okay... my friend gave noman's tek a try. everything almost exactly as the tek says... except for the amount of solvent used. done with two jars, with 50g mhrb in each. found that when added the amount of solvent suggested in the tek, pulling it off with a turkey baster without sucking up lots the base solution was nigh on impossible (jars probably a bit too wide really)... so more solvent was used with each pull to allow easier extraction. after 24 hours in freezer though there is barely a crystal in the solvent. so.... 1)does using too much solvent affect the freeze/precip? 2)if after another 24 hours there are no crystals should the solvent be left out to evap down and then try freeze/precip again? any other ideas?

well.... a different solvent was used than the one succesfully used last time with another tek (i guess sometimes it really is best to stick to what you know). used winsor and newton artist white spirit which is supposedly all naptha, but i have my doubts as it seems the same as bog standard white spirit.

first...use a container that makes it easy to draw off the solvent layer, something with a skinny neck perhaps. Second, if you used too much solvent, just evaporate it down before freezing.
