I'm a complex being with many psychological issues. For years, I tried to find meaning in psychedelics or wisdom traditions. Looking back, it was just a coping mechanism to reach sanity and a life that could be lived. Only troubled souls start to honestly question themselves or the world. When life is good, I simply do not care. In Eastern traditions, they praise suffering because it leads you away from your identity toward the unknown. Most of my deep dives into philosophy were attempts to integrate what I saw in my sessions. Some minds are not creative enough to express it through art and seek meaning another way. Honestly, most of us need conventional psychotherapy instead of spirituality. A spiritual quest is not about yourself, but what makes yourself possible. It points at the underlying reality of this world. I'd not separate a true quest for wisdom and spirituality. They are one and the same. Without bhakti (love), there is no jnana (wisdom), and vice versa. Tibetans say that a bird needs two wings to fly (compassion and wisdom).

What am I trying to say here? I do not know, as always. It is just one more outpouring from a troubled mind. I'd say all the paths and philosophies are fake, because the one treading them is fake. When you see beyond the illusion of self, it all magically becomes authentic and real, even if the path is new, unorthodox, and of your own creation. "Go where there is no path and leave no trail," as Ken McLeod writes in one of his books. We go into the unknown and, through the process, lose ourselves in what is. There is no path left - only the direction where we went. And it is the same direction for everyone, even if paths are different. Some try to make themselves a better human being, others surrender to Ram or Allah, and a few decipher what the mind is and dissolve in the process. So what is the direction then? We know nothing about the direction, because it is outside ourselves. The unknown mystery of life is the direction, and we simply have a gut feeling about it. Something inside drives us to see beyond, but there is no real conceptual underpinning. If we put a name or form on it, it is just a pointer. Only letting it all be and listening leads anywhere. In the end, there is no one who goes and nowhere to go.

How do you find meaning in a meaningless life? I think every identity creates its own meaning, but there is no meaning beyond it. Reality just is. It is already everything and you are it, so any notion of meaning is transcended. People would consider you a good and moral human being, but from your perspective, there is only love. Some days I can almost touch it, and others I am just wallowing in my own misery. Ego is an energetic tightness, like a knot. When it gets somewhat loose, love and ease just flow, seemingly from nowhere. For me, it points to the fact that our original nature is already complete. Any attempt to reach a good life is just one more resistance to it. Life is, and when you are living from that reference point, all questions drop. Medicine is quite similar that way - when you let it flow, no matter what you experience, it rebalances itself and leads to an organic outcome. There is no need for any real direction from you. I am not saying it is easy to hold such a perspective, but it is a possibility.

Some days my mind feels sane and healthy, but then it all crumbles and I am fighting for my life. My gut feeling is to let it all burn, yet I am not mature enough to leave it to its own devices. Somehow that idea that I need to govern it sits deep, and I fight. Recently, it became apparent that the fight itself leaves me stuck. Then comes a medicine session with a simple message to relax. Relax your grip man, open your hand, and let it flow. Sanity is not simple, especially when we struggle to get it. It is like holding water in your hand - the more you struggle, the less remains. What to do then? You do not need to do anything, yet that answer is unsatisfactory. So I am battling against myself once again. My enemy is me, my friend is me, the stage is me. Yeah, maybe it is time to get that welfare money for disability? I am not able to be myself because I try too much.

Any mad thoughts to keep mine company?

Perhaps life is the coping mechanism of the soul?

I try to create meaning in it for myself. I’m not “good” at climbing the ladder, even though physically I’ve spent a lot of time on them. If this is monopoly I’m sorta just hanging on.

It all seems so silly in the vastness of the universe, how we live in earth and relate to ourselves..to each other. I’m skeptical and jealous of anyone who really has anything figured out.

This overrides this:

Sanity?! Overrated, come join me in this insanity! The water's fine!

There seems to be a divide between our experience of the world, despite being in and of the world, that leads us to not only make our own meaning but to be deprived from establishing any meaning outside the human mind. But when we say every meaning is meaningless, then that applies to the statement itself.

We get indoctrinated into thinking in certain ways, at a time and state where we're too naive to question our indoctrination in order to augment and tailor it. That said, we are indoctrinated into the potential myths of meaning and truth.

Could be. Tibetans say that in after-death states we can't stand the disembodiment and intensity of the experience, so we choose a form once again

Same here (to a degree) 🤔

Me too, I'll believe in a saint when I see one myself

I'm all in, Brother. Somehow it all leads there :)

That's why I posted it in philosophy, hoping you would give comments

If anything, I'm aware of my limitations, but that's not my everyday experience. We've talked about it many times, and I think any philosophy can only bring you to the abyss of not-knowing. The next step feels like death, and most likely it is. No wonder no one jumps in.

I like watching YT videos about hermits in the Andes. It's hard to reach these people. You first use a motorway, then a dirt road, and then you hike for a few hours.
That last step is a good metaphor for where philosophy should lead, imo. You go to a point where there are no roads or humans. Only someone who was there before can show the way. My writing is just a venting of sorts, and I appreciate your fast dismantling of it. Human bias is real, and letting it all be is far from easy. We'll see if life gives the push or if I'll just sit this life out like many before. I saw where spirituality boosted by medicine work leads, and I'm genuinely scared.

I'm exploring an eerie feeling while responding to this, lol.

This brink is the closest we get to knowing before the graph starts to curve, never reaching a limit? How could we in the infinite? Philosophy is the last current before the bed and sea of arbitrariness and being.

I like that. Before steeping oneself in the abyss. I must say, you are touching on some of the threads of my loneliness, as I know what domains I reside in and how they can be hard to get into. Anyway, all that's to say, I do what I can, with love.

Furthermore, we often need processes like these to reach the realizations and resolutions we seek.

I try to live with love too. Loneliness is a major player in my psyche right now. Most likely I'd feel lonely in a crowd of people at this point. I crave people who get what I'm alluding to, and they are quite few. Maybe I'm overthinking everything once again, but that's how it feels. We're like deep divers here

Sure. It feels like a struggle for me, though. I just assume that people live simpler lives, and I want that too, yet I don't at the same time. Strange how the mind works.
I'll settle into a new understanding soon enough, and it'll satisfy me for a while. However, that inner pull will get me out of the new comfort zone soon enough.
Story of my life, actually 😮‍💨

I think it's important to remember that most people abide by the biological maxim of the path of least resistance. There's nothing but resistance in the domains you speak of. So, many people just won't "get it."

Even the simplest things are complex in their own right. Be like water.

Me, myself and I are sometimes trying to dismantle the illusions of Time. Have not been able to let go of this core-perception.

Every so often, short periods of touching the Flame of Life burn my souls' fingertips. Quickly I put them in water, to soothe the illusion of the Illusion. Then I lay back and contemplate my futile efforts, my soul is smiling. It's the Smile that matters, is that why I like fires?

The cacti have been beckoning in crescendo lately; "We will let you touch the Flame! Don't worry about the burn, it's just an illusion. Use our flesh to soothe your soul and wander about"

Puts a smile on my soul.

Next time I'm on my way to the store and an old f### cuts me off, I'll try to remember this thread. He's just choosing the path of least resistance.
Yeah, I need to befriend my anger too. It's a big new player on the scene now. We like to hate on everyone together :devilish:

Beautiful. I get a feeling of contentment from your writing. I'm a long way from that spot, and my ride is half broken, but I'm still on the road. Hopefully, one day 🚗

People are children and trees. Children because most people never grow up, and trees because they're in the way, but I like trees 🤣.

When I finally befriended my anger I called it resting in my sage rage. Anger isn't bad, but is does have something to tell you.

If your ride wasn't broken you wouldn't know you were on the road. It allows you to change your perceptional definition of the 'broken' part and travel some more. Until the next part stops working.

Every time (!) giving you the opportunity to smile, because you know you're Alive and on your way to who knows where.

Until the next Wave hits, stopping your ride. Allowing you to rebalance and then you Flow, surfing the new Wave onto the Next. All the while Smiling.

When there is no Time, there is no Destination. Without a destination, you are free to choose. And this freedom can put a Smile on your Soul.

Touch the Fire and be Water, then roam the Earth and fly with the birds in the Sky.

I agree :ROFLMAO:

I'm in the midst of this process. Anger is a source of energy, if anything, and keeps me on my toes. For sure, it wants to tell me something. I'm all ears 👂

That's my aim for now - to get to that place. I know that it's possible, and that's why I'm riding these waves 🌊🌊🌊

My life is like a TV series with some seasons being awesome and others like a bad soap opera, but the team is still together and works hard, so they may create a good ending.
At least I remain optimistic and watch it every day
