SWIM is a bit concerned about the nausea associated with aya what is a good diet to follow to minimalism the risk of nausea occurring? also what is a good first time dose of spice for an aya journey?

If you eat alot of crappy food and drink alcohol etc than ayahuasca will makes you sick usually. Maybe doing a diet for few days will help, but honeslty thats not gunna really save you..it takes a long time to clean yourself out..the nausea and sickness is part of the cleansing..might as well just start to eat as healthy as you possabily can, start to work with ayahuasca and keep up the diet as live as a healthy person..otherwise everytime you come back to ayahuasca it will be like going back to the doctor for the same thing, again and again. People here will say "oh n you can eat pizza etc before you drink and will be fine!" which you can, but there is no point in that really..not if your comming to ayahuasa for healing on all levels. The real change happens when you work with ayahuasca over a long period of time, getting your body in shape, doing diets and drinking ayahuasca etc..its not always fun but it pays off.

Id say start with caapi only brews, or brews that are caapi dominant with a hint of light..maybe 1 gram of mimosa to start. Ayahuasca is not about tripping balls..trust me..shes sooooooooooooooooooo much more than that. Doses change between people..noone can tell you what your dose will be. Some people can have powerful experiences at 20g vine, others dont feel anything at less that 40-50g.

eat rice and vegetables.
No refined food,
no refined sugar, salt and fats.

Natural, and raw food is the best!

In my experience the nausea has almost nothing to do with your physical diet... it depends on how much emotional/spiritual crap you have to throw up.

And it's not that bad, don't worry about it too much. If this is your first aya journey and you are in need of spiritual healing, chances are you WILL throw up, and with that vomit a whole lot of other shit will also exit your body.

Once you purge, though, you will feel a LOT better. It doesn't ruin the journey; in my experience it's always occurred about 45 minutes after drinking and then that's it.

the physical and "spiritual" problems are so interconnected that an unhealthy diet is part of a bigger "spiritual" thing.

Agreed, although one of my close friends who took ayahuasca with me had a healthy diet (and had fasted for a day beforehand) yet somehow managed to purge for 20 minutes at the beginning of the journey. She was vegan, and mostly ate quinoa, avocadoes, cashews, fresh fruit, tea, and chocolate. Some of the troubles she came to aya to resolve got puked up...

Anecdotal such evidence may be, but I think it makes the point. I'm not really disagreeing with you, fractal, just saying that a good diet alone might not protect you from the Purge...

Yeah I agree with you..ayahuasca can be alot rougher though if you arent clean..sometimes you just have to purge no matter what..

I dont see what the big deal is with the Purge, its grown on me, these days I just let it flow.

Dosage, id say start low, brew up 50 grams caapi vine, and sip on half of that, if you feel like more sip on the rest. Im not sure what kinda light you want to add in there, but if you go for the caapi only brew, have some changa ready to vape.

What's the feeling regarding Pharma, be it Caapi Alklaoid only pharma or spice added-- in terms of the healing potential of Ayahuasca.

Maybe I worded this ambiguously.

What's the feeling about healing with Pharma compared to Un-refined Ayahuasca.

IS something lost by refining and purifying the alkaloids with food grade techniques.

I tried to start a thread about this in particular but got no responses.

And there I probably didn't word the title properly as to invite the wisdom I was searching for.

It can be tricky when purifying plants in that defining the line between over refined can play tricks on our mind.

And it can get more tricky when one starts to think that the plant morphogenetic signature may be part of the totality of the experience-- even beyind the physcial action of given alkaloids.

Thanks for your consideration on this.

I guess the best answer comes by asking the forces that be during the ceremony-- in both styles.

And there is the hybrid idea of making a mild Ayahuasca tea with Caapi leaves and vine and maybe some Chacruna/Diplopteres-- then adding the alkaloids Harmala and Spice to the tea.
