Drug testing and DMT?

As far as I know there isn't a test for it. Most employers just test for the commonly used drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, opiates, and amphetamines. I might have left out a few, but generally this is about it.

yea, DMT is metabolized incredibly quickly (thanks to your MAO-A enzymes) and you can basically tell how much DMT is in your system by how sober you feel (when you feel completely sober again, its pretty safe to assume most if not all the DMT has been metabolized).
which would mean that you would have to get tested WHILE on DMT, also since people have DMT in their systems pretty much at all times, it would have to be a sensitive test to determine that is not only in your system, but at a significant amount.
in addition to that i don't know if there is a way to even test for tryptamines, though i am probably mistaken in that respect.

I read somewhere that not too long ago they finally were able to test for DMT in urine, and this test was extremely expensive. The amounts were in the nanograms if I were correct and I doubt that any test currently available would be able to determine if you dosed or not, even within an hour of doing so. They dont know how much DMT is in human urine on average.
I could be making this all up though so I would double check my info.

is it possible to test for dmt? yes, but they'd have to specifically look for it (they'd need to have an assay for it). as was mentioned, this is rather expensive. DMT is not a common drug of abuse, thus is not normally tested for.
I was wondering the same thing about psilocybe mushrooms recently. Not for myself, but for a friend who was applying for a job and had taken mushrooms recently.

from my experience no on both mushrooms and dmt. i have smoked a bowl an hour before an extended ua and was all good. even if they did find anything, you had a really intense dream the night before and its residual.
yes, the same logic applies to psilocybin/psilocin.

iirc you have about 4 hours after smoking bud for it to show up in your system - sometimes longer. a friend of mine stayed up late partying, passed the drug test the next morning (After smoking copious amounts before going to bed).

My cornerns do not lie with myself but some close friends who have a lot riding on whether testing could not necessarily reveal use of DMT but whether metabolites could be mistaken for some other controlled substance. I have heard that mushrooms are detectable the next day. It is my belief assumption that very few tests other than the best GC-MS testing actually detects the actual circumspect molecule but metabolites there of for most watched substances. So I would like to hear what are the metabolites of DMT and are they something that could present an issue. My local pharmacy now has a very wide spectrum take home urine test. On GC-MS testing and after having been on chronic pain management I realise how incredibly sensitive these machines are as patients who had consumed a few poppy seeds days to a week before would be detected. I agree wholeheartedly with the MAO destroying DMT but what is left afterwards, hopefully just some non-circumspect amino acids.

your DMT levels are returned to normal when you sober up, and to my knowledge there is no evidence left behind of elevated DMT levels (even so, who is to say that wasn't from the latest REM?)
also there are many unknowns when it comes to endogenous production of DMT, some say that it can be altered with focus and practice, can meditation become illegal?
as for psilocybin/psilocin that seems more plausible as it is metabolized differently, and it is not an endogenous chemical..
