Inception - the movie

Migrated topic.

How about a combination of both? Perhaps the beings are autonomous in a way, just like the other dreamers in Inception, but our subconscious fills in the rest: a balance of both seems to be the best explanation in my opinion.

That's funny i was just about to say something very similar. What if it is a combination of the two. Certain things are being filled in the blanks by the brain while other might hold some truth to them. Also, it is very possible that some people might have it, while others not so much. Kind of like some people are born artists, musicians, etc, others are not. Doesn't necesserally make anyone more superior or anything like that, imo.

Some people are born with shamanitic traits, while others are not, even if they also like to "explore" and loose their ego occasionally.

To my undertanding, that is the whole concept of shamanism. Being able to perceive/communicate with the world somewhere between the earth and the sky.

Another thing, i could definetly agree that ego loss is not a necessity for deep conversations. In my personal experience, a lot of times when an maoi is combined. It tends to push boundaries, while still being able to hold on to oneself. Which i think might even make it more profound becaues of the fact that one is still intact and not alienated.

Obviously, these are the things we can only speculate on, noone would know for sure. And if they did, well they might as well start their own cult/religion. But for those that don't Nexus is the place to hangout.

I saw the movie yesterday, and to those who have seen it, perhaps you will understand better what I'm saying, but in the movie, they explain (I don't think this constitutes spoilers as it happened in the first 20 min or so) that the people in the dream reality, other than the dreamers themselves are projections of the dreamer's subconscious. I know that there are many who believe that the DMT entities are autonomous, and while I do lean this way, I admit that I am truly torn on what to believe on this subject matter, but the other extreme would be that they are projections of the subconscious. In pondering it recently, my current viewpoint on the matter (and a loosely held viewpoint at that) is that hyperspace and its inhabitants, as we view them, may be partially autonomous in that they do exist outside our minds, but our brains are still filtering that reality to some degree, ever-interpreting what we see, as opposed to simply and purely displaying that reality. What do you guys think?

I think you are right, the mere fact of ingesting and decomposing this molecule must get traces of aleatory elements of our own physiology into the assimilation process. In fact i have a little theory about DMT. It's not clear yet why do we produce DMT, nor where does the memory is "stored" in our physic being. DMT can give us a hint as a series of recorded trips or imagery that flashes through our system, our bodies in fact filter this naturally ocurring compound in GREAT doses. Maybe that is why the reel of images that one perceibe are greatly randomized, because our receptors and perceptors get overloaded with imformation that is contained in this molecule. The other day i was chatting with a friend and i compared the DMT trip to a very large collection of JPGs travelling through a 56k connection. So the perception of this JPGs depends much on the "broadband" that a person can produce or the transmission capacity he or she is able to channel. Or in other words, the consciousness capacity of our hard drives that are our brains, much of this actually could depend of the percentage of the brain that is being stimulated at the time. Take the fact that our "screens" or senses will traduce this differently from person to person, incurring in several variations of the same trip. I hope i explained myself properly. Alas i haven't ingested DMT i hope my first trip will trigger the Inception that we are talking about (Not the movie of course), that the mere word means to know more about oneself. I really hope to know me better.
