Hey so I made a kava extract using acetone as the solvent. its been siting out evaporating for about a month now but its still like a sludge. im concerned there still might be some acetone left in it i cant smell any but is there a way I can test to see if the acetone if fully evaporated?

Also, Jonathan Ott administered acetone+salvinorin-A sublingually he said it was contained in bananas so it can't be too bad.

Acetone is normally found in the human body of healthy people. Don't worry about traces of it being present.

Like I always say with harmala extraction: WHY DO IT? Why bother to extract something like kava when you can already buy extracts all over the place and at decent prices legally?

Is there some reason you don't just buy it already extracted?

yeah i've made a couple kava extracts before with acetone.
if you're worried about it, one rule of thumb is to redissolve the extract in ethanol and dehydrate it again.
this ensures all remaining little acetone particles are long gone and not "trapped" in the dark corners of "the goo". :d
but, yeah, i wouldn't worry about it really.
you have to eat a lot to get a good effect...but indeed, i used to love kava!!
have fun...

But everybody around says acetone is carcinogen... Right probably for those working repetively with it, it's maybe not harmless..

rOm, I guarantee you have it in your body right now. It’s a normal part of human metabolism. We as humans are filled with “carcinogens”, some of them we manufacture within our own bodies.

This fear of carcinogens is way overblown in modern day society. Apples, oranges, bananas, etc., these things are filled with known proven carcinogens, and yet they are healthy to eat.

The average person eats hundreds of carcinogens everyday found in so called “healthy” foods.

Unless you’re overdosing on carcinogens, they are not a problem. It’s a numbers game. You’re not going to get cancer from a single molecule of a carcinogenic compound. You need to be bombarded with tons of it. Smoking a cigarrette one time isn't going to give you lung cancer. Getting a sun burn one time isn't going to give you skin cancer. It’s a numbers game.

If you go to the wilderness and breathe the “fresh air” made from the plants, you are breathing in a lot of carcinogens made by the plants. Carcinogens are all over the place. They are a part of nature. You can’t get away from them. If you wanted to cut out carcinogenic compounds from your diet, you would die. All the healthy foods we eat contain carcinogens.
