kava kava's effects on depression?

Migrated topic.

I have recently been forced to quit smoking cannabis sativa which I had been using to treat my chronic depression. I use mushrooms to help quite a bit. They get rid of the worse parts of it. I do however want a legal way to treat myself as well. I don't take pharmaceuticals they make me worse!

I have read that Kava can help with depression along side of anxiety, which is also a side effect from my depression. I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with an anti depressant effect from Kava.

I've gotten good anti depressant effects from heavy doses of kava once a week, but it is way more expensive and less effective then simply having a full dose of harmalas once a week.

It is not very anti-depressant for me, but sure anxiolytic!
Try 30 (around an ounce) of good quality raw or slightly fermented cacao beans/nibs. They contain an endogenous cannaboid (anademide) and Theobromin sure is mood altering itself!

It may sound silly, but i've eaten at least 3 pounds now and it is the real deal for me.

It's nothing like chocolate.

Make sure to really eat at least 30g.

If nothing happens, try for at least 3-4 days in a row.

If still nothing happens, switch to another brand of beans.

Kava works pretty good on anxiety, I haven't really thought of it as an antidepressant though (admittedly I don't often feel depressed, so I can't judge its effectiveness). Kava is a good herb if you need something at the end of the day to wind down, relax, and get a good nights sleep.

A herb that works well for me if I am in a shitty or down mood is big catuaba (Trichilia catigua). About ten grams decocted to make a strong tea, is a good dose for me. It always seems to balance my moods (usually this means uplifting/mildly euphoric) but it works on anxiety too, if I am feeling nervous then it calms me down a bit.
