Research Proposed Salvia recognita & glutinosa breeding programme

@Grasshoppers @neurobloom @stuartroelke we have seen success with breeding Phalaris why not look into Salvia recognita & glutinosa.

I want to participate in breeding Salvia recognita & glutinosa for higher potency strains but dont know where to start. I can grow it & harvest material & ship it to someone else to analyze it but I wonder how fast it would degrade. I know next to nothing about breeding and wanted to ask the three of you if this is something we can organize. IDK if Grasshoppers & neurobloom are willing to help i but I thought they would have insight and experience.

I think recognita and glutinosa have incredible potential and if bred in a similar manner to Research - The nexian phalaris breeding programme we would end up with potent strains that beat divinorum. If we could boost the potency of these plants it would give people the ability to grow an active Salvia in drought/cold - a huge gamechanger

What does everyone think about this?

I would love to contribute with Salvia glutinosa crosses, but I’ve been running into two issues:

1. My Salvia glutinosa seeds are from a reputable machine elf, though they refuse to germinate. Ran into the same issue with Salvia splendens. I’d appreciate tips.

2. My Salvia divinorum plants have only ever bloomed once indoors during the winter—I was not able to successfully pollinate them. They were in a grow tent, and heat / humidity have remained mostly constant over several years of growing these plants. Someone told me that a shorter duration of light could trigger it (can’t remember if I was running 10 or 12 hours). Does anyone have information about tricking salvia into flowering? Guides on pollinating?

Hopefully the S. glutinosa seeds that I planted two weeks ago end up sprouting.

Hey @Trypto You grow glutinosa, correct? Im getting started for my first year next spring and I know the seeds are tricky. Any tips buddy?

glutinosa seeds are small/hard to knick. I imagine cold stratification or perhaps hot water treatment could improve germination rate

Jellito is where I get seeds for recognita/glutinosa. They offer 3 different types of glutinosa seed ("Gold Seed", organic, & regular) would be interesting to see if the organic or gold seed are potential to start breeding strains
