Some questions about seizure/confiscation of acacia/mimosa shipments (USA)

First off, I need to apologize. In my inexperience with the forum, the other day I was precariously close to crossing the line asking about sources. It was not my intention to violate the rules. Message received. I am not asking in this post, or in any future posts, any questions concerning those specifics. (I fully understand the rule. Makes perfect sense).

I have stumbled upon some reports of seizure of shipments of Mimosa. And the feds, in their wisdom, using the entire weight of the plant material as the amount of DMT. Ie, 500g mimosa=500g DMT. So relatively small amounts of DMT can quickly become a serious federal case.

I'm interested in a small extraction for personal use, no interest at all in anything for the market. But it would freak me out to have the men in black knocking on my door with a warrant.

Does anyone know of reported cases of shipments (from within the US, to another address in the US) being seized? I'm talking a reasonable amount--lets say 1kg at the absolute max.

I might just be paranoid, but as it turns out I'm a university professor, and being hauled off in handcuffs is probably not something I'd prefer to put on my tenure review documents. :-) Having it seized, and getting screwed out of my money I could deal with. Having it seized and being arrested for it I can do without. Looking around the web, I keep hearing "grey area". Ie, the plant material is not exactly illegal to purchase, but occasionally they take it anyway, and sometimes show up at your house.

Discussing legality in general is fine, but there should be no mention of personal or second hand experiences buying. Mentioning publicly reported cases is OK.

I will edit your post to remove all parts that could lead to other people talking about sourcing (edit: done). I understand your question is about legality in the US, so (please, everybody) let's stick to that topic in the abstract.

I'm in it for the skin healing properties - it's particularly effective in cases of intractable eczema, particularly the psoriatic variety.

Can MHRB really help with eczema? I have plenty of DMT, and am honestly more interested in resolving my skin issues than I am in having more psychedelic experiences…

In Aus, the issue is importation I believe. Plenty of native Acacia varieties available with easy non-suspicious shipment within the country, but very difficult to obtain mimosa and the few options for it are extremely expensive.

Tepezcohuite is a traditional remedy for skin disorders - might be the trunk bark, though...
