Stacking niacin with psychedelics?

Can anyone share experiences with the so-called Stamets stack of psilocybin, lion's mane and flushing niacin? Just a marketing push or is there something special to it?

The "niacin flushing pushes chems into brain hypothesis" is of interest. Has anyone explored any other psychedelic with nacin?

If Stamets is right, all sorts of Dee Em Tees would benefit from this...

I have but I dunno what to say. Do you like niacin on its own? I don’t mind the flush in minor doses.

My wife tried 1/4 of a niacin pill and was extremely sick. She flushed super hard and vomited a few times and won’t ever touch it again.

I don’t remember the doses of these but they were just regular niacin from the supermarket. One pill is very uncomfortable and I think my blood pressure went too low.

I dunno about niacin. I am undecided.

I echo this. I've never gotten that ill, but my experiences with niacin flushes are not something I'd care to repeat, especially if I had a few 'shrooms in me. I find the effects of niacin to be at least uncomfortable, and at most alarming in terms of cardiac and circulatory effects.

Thanks for the replys.

From my own research on the niacin subject, Stamets is 100% bogus on it and he's just hyping his nonsense patent. Zero evidence was provided. Physiological logic is non existent.

I have tried 500 mg niacin and it's textbook skin flush, prickly and heat thing. It's not exactly uncomfortable, just really weird bodily and skin sensation. I kinda like the warm feeling, the prickly feeling not that much. Doesn't feel like it would be interesting during any type of trip, even if it is a microtrip, though the stack claims only 100 mg.

Lion's mane is another matter which I have to look up in detail and test. @harmala_afficianado can you share anything on it?

When I take it with psychedelics it makes the trip stronger in the sense that your awareness and focus are sharp from the lions mane, and it makes the visuals look more vivid and interesting, and it also helps me go with the flow of the trip as oppossed to fight it, like it makes your brain stay in a neuroplastic state so it doesn't resist change as easy, I also like to take it with my daily harmala dose, really boosts the benefits from harmala.

I've no problem with niacin flush and enjoyed 500mg capsules in the winter as a 15min sauna. It does work as a vasodilator so a fall in blood pressure could be expected.
When it comes to the Stamets stack that vasodilation is a desired effect, imo. You can gauge your microdose more easily, and a flush should signal that you took too much.
Stamets is open about why niacin is there and what it does. So I see no mystery here.

Haha, a 15 min sauna, that's an interesting description of what 500 mg feels like. Since you mentioned it, I was wondering if it could be used to "detox" (wrong word) or help cleanse the compounds and metabolites a few days after psychedelics intake to perhaps help in keeping the body naive. Just speculation, like the claim NAC recovers MDxx magic.

Another possible use would be niacin to counteract 5ho-dmt's vasoconstriction, though it seems to me bufo's not a peripheral blood vessel constriction.

@northape Stamets is definitely clear about what he thinks niacin could be doing, not clear about what he claims it is effective for since he gives no evidence for it. Two different things: one is an opinion and the other is a product claim.

Oh, it's beyond me to give any advice. Niacin is a vasodilator, so going from there you can come up with your own conclusions and maybe test it out.
Stamets should have a few studies about his stack if I remember right. I think adding niacin into the mix gave a stronger neuroplasticity response or something.
You can easily find it online if you're interested. I don't ingest anything beyond plants and multivitamins nowadays. That exploration phase is behind me.

Nope, didn't try. I mix lion's mane and the microdose, everybody's happy with it, i trust the mushroom more than specific trendy chemicals
Though, what do we know of bio availability of dry lion's mane VS extracted (double extract) ?

Idk but i also eat dried or fresh lions mane, and i def feel its effects, 10 grams fresh or 1g dried is the threshold for me, 3g+ dried can give me slight manic energy, it makes my mind very active and interested in small details, although i always take it with harmalas, very rarely took it alone.

Here is what most of you are missing .......When jumping in to bashing Stamets that niacin did not potintate and the flush made people uncomfortable .....That was his whole point ....was to make them uncomfortable when he first mentioned this .

Stamets very first mentioned this ......using niacin......
on A Discusion Podcast .............
IT was not to potentate the mushroom.

He was theorizing/speculation .. That if one were trying to get aproval from the goverment to perscribe mushroom in microdoses , one could add a small amount of niicin to each microdose to aleave the goverments worrys that a person would get a script for mycrodoses and then just take ten to trip .

He was just speculating that they could argue that a small amount of niacin would not be noticed in a microdose but if it were to be ......... "ABUSED.goerment concern " ........that the increased nicin flush would discourage this to aleaviate the goverment regulators concern , to get medical aproval .

This discussion was clearly just speculation , but the "INTERNT ExSpurts " blew it all up as a potentating stack Staments was advicating ..........and that was not the point of the discusion .

Back when this rumor started i went and rewatched the show a cpl times , and this is how it went down , at that time .

Now i may be unaware of any further or diffrent verbal statments by Staments or if there were any written discussion after he first speculated about it on the podcast .

But as far as i know this is were the niacin stack discusion started.

He mention lions mane because it can help repare or regenrate nerves ...neuroplasticty .not because he was saying it potentated .

i welcome any other info i mght not have .

sorry about my poor dizzylexic typing skills
