The rushing sensation

Migrated topic.

Hermes

Hermes Trismegistus
Today SWIM tried to smoke a little DMT for the first time. And What SWIM felt was well, slightly frightening as he hadn't felt anything like it before. An intense rushing sensation surged through SWIM's body. The dose was very small. Is this normal? Could SWIM expect the rush to be more intense with higher doses?

Well, imagine being rushed out of your body faster than the speed of light
that's what happens at higher doses
you will have to see for yourself

sure its normal

Yes, the rushing sensation is very normal. I once smoked dmt next to a creek and heard it turn into a rushing rapid of alien whispers. The rushing sensation is just something you have to be strong through, just know that the experience is for your benefit. What usually gets me through the intensity of the first 3-5 minutes of the rushing sensation, is deep, even breaths. All you have to do is focus on your breath, and I guarantee you will make it through the experience fine. Incidentally, the rushing sensation will only get stronger as you raise the dose. I too have had sub-breakthrough doses where I only experienced a rushing sensation and a sense of being a bit overwhelmed. Once you leave your body though, the rushing sensation tends to leave, just focus on your breath or a mantra on the upswing of the experience and you will do fine.
best of luck :)

It is normal, but remember this was your first time, you should get "used" to the feeling.

At higher doses there is very little time to think about this feeling, you might think about it for a second, but that will be taken over by holding on for dear life:)

One thing that I always say to myself as im going in is, "everything will be OK".

Exiting times my friend, happy explorations.

Thanks very much for the encouraging advice guys. I guess rationalising the experience will help, assuring myself that everything will be fine and I will not come to any harm. I'm glad to know that it's normal and not a result of impure product.

Think of it this way life is a river. When you try to hold on or control your life your grab onto a branch. Your still stuck in the river but only making it longer for you to get to the ochean. When you take dmt it puts this river on super speed. Just ride it and all will be fine. Try to hold on and things might get scary

I once read somewhere that you can wear spandex to reduce the rush ... though personally; I like to retain a bit of dignity when I connect with the universe.

Haha, interesting.. and good judgement.

This really isn't meant to intimidate - but as you've asked, I'll try and offer an answer to your question:

The experience overall gets exponentially deeper the higher you go up in dosage. Breaking through is like a death; the rush is simply overwhelming. It's like drowning or being electrocuted, or some strange combination thereof. It's like a bomb going off in your fucking face. It's like flying into the sun.

There is nothing in this human experience to prepare you for that moment - and lower doses barely offer a hint of what's to come.

I really like the gentle ways you come up with to prepare new initiates for the DMT experience. :)

The rush is my favorite part. The "it feels like I'm not breathing" sensation is a little uncomfortable, but otherwise I love it. You just gotta remember, "I am breathing, and everything will be alright."

breathing is key, also try not to panic just flow with it take it as it comes. stay as calm as possible .
There is nothing to compare to the intensity. remind yourself that the experience is short and will not last.
You'll be fine

Congrats hermes!! Lol remember in chat I told you when its kicking in to try and think " this is supposed to happen" lmao now you know why. A lot of people think (including myself) that the first time you do dmt it breaks down a wall in your mind. It doesn't take much that first time. My first was a rediculously small amount to make sure swim did his extraction right. He's never felt that all encompassing vibration again. As for dealing with the g-force of a blast off make a mantra. It doesn't have to be complicated. Mine is "this is nice, this is good" it sounds dumb and my own mind tells me so when I'm saying it but it still enough of a distraction to get me through. I read people just repeating "yes" works as well. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes.

Goodluck and safe journeys

Uncle Knucles, well you certainly make it sound scary! I understand that nothing is really going to prepare me for the experience but from reading your post and others like it, I know to expect something truly -off the scale-.

gobalswg and Felnik, thanks for the wise words. I hope that I'm able to put this into practise. Your posts are encouraging.

hyperspacing, I'm not sure I've broken down that wall just yet. Perhaps I just smacked my head against it a little. At least I know a tiny bit of what to expect with my future attempts. As for your mantra, "this is nice, this is good", hehe I like it! I'm going to have to try this out myself.

Perhaps what I find most reassuring is, many people have done this before, surely I can do it too!? Thank you everyone for your soothing wisdom.

Well like Terrence McKenna once said: If you don't feel like you've done too much, you haven't done enough.

It's just breaking through that can be scary but once through it's something completely different.

lolol agreed ^^

Common it´s not that bad. Sometimes the disconfort is really minimal, sometimes you don´t even feel it and when you realise it you´re already there. One time dough i got stuck in the blast off. That for me really sucked :\

I'm not trying to dress up the scare factor for the purpose of spooking anyone. This is just my personal experience. For others, perhaps it's all kisses and moonbeams; for me, not so much - never has been.

For me, breaking through is very much an annihilation of self. I can't imagine anything more traumatic, with the exception of birth and dying. But it's better to know what you're getting yourself into before committing to the full monty - because once you take those three big hits, it won't much matter whether you're ready; you're going where you're going regardless.

There is nothing frivolous about this experience. Be very sure it's what you want before you open that door. There are more JoeBonos to come, I promise you. You can't unsee it afterwards.

I've been trying to breakthrough for 2 years no to no avail. Sometimes i think that they deny me access on purpose. For my own good. I've tasted a bit of punishment an while ago (read: I was set on fire by the spice, no kidding, very painful) and I am convinced, that dmt is capable of providing you with a nice slice of hell.

I still want to experience it. Why? Because i'm a fool.

I've found that when things get uncomfortable, simply thinking "ok, I'm gonna go with it" makes those overwhelming sensations pass...at least when smoked. I can't say the same has worked for ayahuasca
