Good morning,
I have gotten myself

Magnesium-L-Threonat

in capsules,
I want to see, if it improves my cognitive and mental-stamina function.

I'm going to test this, if it has any effects.
(middle aged man)
I can compare, altough I got many different other supplements, like creatine, glycine, Ashwaganda, Collagen etc.
I'm currently trying to isolate those substances, which are "worth it", from the ones that won't improve anything.

Magnesium has good effects, so far. I tested almost any form by now.
Only L-Threonat should be able to improve brain-function!

I do expect slight improvement of mental stamina, and slightly better memory.

yeah - I edited the opening posting.
Ofc - this one should be one of the few substances, which are improving mental capabilities without being "invasive".

It's worth noting that Mg threonate is the salt of threonic acid, and has very little to do with the amino acid threonine. While the threonate appears to be a more bioavailable form of magnesium, it won't play anything much of a role in boosting brain glycine levels.

However...
Threonic acid is a sugar acid derived from threose. The l-isomer is a metabolite of ascorbic acid (vitamin C).<a href="Threonic acid - Wikipedia"><span><span>[</span>1<span>]</span></span></a> One study suggested that because l-threonate inhibits DKK1 expression in vitro, it may have potential in treatment of androgenic alopecia.
DKK1 is one of the most upregulated genes in androgen-potentiated balding, with DKK-1 messenger RNA upregulated a few hours after DHT treatment of hair follicles at the dermal papilla in vitro. Neutralizing antibody against DKK-1 reversed DHT effects on outer root sheath keratinocytes. DKK-1 expression is attenuated by L-threonate in vitro, with the latter a metabolite of ascorbate.
and
Elevated levels of DKK1 in bone marrow, plasma and peripheral blood are associated with the presence of osteolytic bone lesions in patients with multiple myeloma. Due to the role of DKK1 in inflammation induced bone loss DKK1 is under investigation as target for therapeutic strategies in medicine and dentistry.
